Some people have it so hard. I feel for the kid but it really say's something about your character when thats all it takes to upset you. most aussie familys have it alot harder than that day in day out and without the surpport net or money I won't be pulling out the tissues just yet.
Having said that I still hope he becames a fine player for us.

Put the tissues away. It's not a sob story, it's the truth. And if people can't handle the truth, then they shouldn't be reading or commenting, and take no interest whatsoever in the story. If anyone doesn't believe that the kid was homesick, or they believe he is less a person for being homesick, well then they should have a good hard look at themselves.
No finger pointing should be assumed in this post that offers my opinion only. Take it or leave it, I don't care.

It was my response to A.Rocca going home to cry to his Mummy, so I guess we have to cope the same flak from Collingwood supporters, etc. Still, I'm glad that the trend is starting to reverse with Davis and Bolton coming home. Must check the records to see who else can be brought home. Maybe Mark can come up to join his brother!

Yeh harsh words DPW, very harsh, unwarrented IMO.
I would think being away from your family for a long extended period of time you would be entitled to be a little upset ?
Sure ofcourse other families have it much more harder, way more harder, but this story isnt trying to get sympathy, it isnt trying to belittle other family problems, it is a FOOTY story, in the footy industry, nothing more nothing less, it is not aimed at trying to overide world issues or anything like that.
Take it in the context at which it was delivered, if you can indeed percieve it that way.
* By the way Nick Davis is currently suffering a groin complaint and is still about 4 weeks from resuming full training again.

As Roos has said a slow introduction to build on his fitness base will see him play probably in the Anzac Day match against Melbourne while the maggies are busy down south against Essendon.

Well.... in the end, he got what he wanted (ie, to return and play in Sydney). And he achieved this in the face of a massive amount of pressure and criticism from Collingwood and its fans.
So I think he shows more character than many (ie, mainly Collingwood fans) would credit him with!
Hope he goes well with us!!!!!

It is only a result of being jealous that they react like that. He did secure a place in the GF for them, I'm sure they liked him then!

I knew Nick when he was growing up. The reason he went to Collingwood is that there was a chance he might end up in somewhere like Perth, that is why he left in the first place. His father Craig organised the deal with the Pies, although from what I can gather he was keen for him to play out his career there for he feels that Melbourne is where footy happens and the Pies are a great club. I think he wanted his name to follow in his footsteps, something about a locker for 100 games +. I don't think that article reads well for Nick, it makes him sound a bit like a wuss. He was very shy and neve went to school so I don't think for our information he will ever be leadership material. But the Pies cannot complain, he certainly hasn't bad-mouthed them. His mother is very complimentary of them. Incidentally I always felt that his younger brother Joshua was a better player potentially but he didn't like the game much. Perhaps we should try to get him to take it up again, he plays socially at the moment.
