What is the lowest grade footy comp in Sydney ? I've occasionally seen references to third grade teams, but I've never seen any results.

There are 2 leagues in Sydney. They are as follows:

SAFL (Sydney Australian Football League)
comprises of the following

SFL First Grade
SFL Reserve Grade
SFL Under 18 Div 1

SFA (Sydney Football Association)
comprises of the following

SFA First Grade
SFA Reserve Grade
SFL Under 18 Div 1
SFA Division 2 First Grade

Are there plans for expansion (ie start reserves teams in SFA Divvy 2)?

Or are there simply not enough numbers at the moment?

I'm guessing the difference in standard between SAFL and SFA would be pretty big, and between divs 1 and 2 of the SFA to be even bigger.....

With only 8 teams in the SAFL makes you wonder why they dont combine with the SFA and make one strong 14-16 team comp.

Most of the SFA teams would get absolutely walloped.

Keep the eight strongest together, it's a good number of teams for a comp. Fourteen clubs and the difference between top and bottom just widens.

Thanks guys - from what you've said, SFA Div 2 first grade would probably be the weakest grade at the moment (until Richo and I start a SFA Div 2 reserve grade comp ;)

The NSW/ACT AFL website is now operational (but already has out of date/incorrect information in the junior clubs area)....

http://www.aflnswact.com.au/

It's hard to find the link but you can get the results/ladders etc at.....

Complete PDF fixtures are on the umpires site....

The Mountain Lions are seriously considering applying to enter a side in the SFA div 2 next year.

On a statewide basis the standard in the CWAFL wouldn't be great, but its probably stronger than the Tamworth and Summerland leagues.

Black Diamond (Newcastle-Central Coast) take on Farrer this Saturday which will be a good indication of the state of footy in Newcastle. The CWAFL are travelling to West Wyalong to get pumped by Northern Riverina.

Phil

All the best with the Mountain Lions this year.
Another thing.
Please pass on my congratulations to the following former Penrith Football Club members who are playing in the CWAFL Rep side this weekend.

Will do Ben,

Kingwill carved us up when we played Bathurst the other week. You could of added Dav Stritch to that list but he couldn't make rep training.

Ben Howard has been selected as the starting ruckman.

I'm thinking of going out to the game.

SFL First Grade (1st grade at unsw)
SFL Reserves (3rd grade unsw)

SFA First Grade (2nd grade unsw)
SFA Reserves (4th grade unsw)

SFL U18s Division 1
SFL U18s Division 2 (i played in this but im not sure if it still exists)

I think there might also be a 5th grade, which is 2nd reserves SFA.

There is only one U18 competition this year with Div1 and Div2 being combined .
