I have been looking throguh the all time draft list on afl.com.au and it says the swans gave up picks 13, 17 , and 45 for Hall.
Now i traced pick 17 all the way back to stkilda, and i realised that since they had pick2 then pick 17 was theres. Is it a mistake in the sydney section that says we gave up picks 13, 45 and 17??
I dont see how we could even have pick 17 in the first place.
If how i work it out we gave up picks 13, 45 for picks 52 and Hall, then i reckon it was a win win situation from both clubs.

any thoughts?

Stafford for Daffy and #17.

St Kilda on-traded that to Freo for Heath Black, who traded that to Melbourne for Jeff Farmer who traded that to Geelong along with #41 for Clint Bizzell. James Kelly was selected with pick #17.

Hope that helps.

While looking back I also noted that we got pick #28 for Ryan Fitzgerald. We took Mark Powell with that pick, and in hindsight how good does that trade look now?

That was the year in which St.K, WC and Freo all had priority picks. Thus, the last pick in round 1 was not 17, but rather pick 19. The pick started with Richmond, who came third. We on-traded it to St K.

thanks ugg and charlie.

hhhhmmmm, Hall is a great player, but does anyone else think his price tag was too high?
or was it worth it since at the time we were struggling to kick goals?

Nah, I think we had to move heaven an earth to get a key forward like hall and i have no problems with what we gave up. Imo his aquisition was almost as big as getting plugger to the club.

We pay a premier for him though. Certainly it is not a bargain. But we do need him. Without him, our mid-age cupboard is truly bare.
