Inspirational to say the least. Similar courage to the Mcartney incident.
Still not sure why how this has not got the media attention Jason's got.

I particularly like the comments from Roos and Mathews on how it doesn't always look like he knows what he's doing - but with the clear implication that usually he does. I know we all groan when his moves don't quite come off, but he epitomises the high risk brand of footy that the team is trying to play - and its a darned more exciting to watch than a lot of what we've witnessed in past years. Goodes is the same - it looks dumb when it doesn't work (like his kick across the backline last week) but fantastic when it does (like his kick across field last week that led to Kennelly's goal, but would probably have cost us one had Kennelly not been able to control the ball).

Please tell me you are joking, one player has come back from a terrorist attack, the other a football injury.

And more importantly, one risked his life to save others, while the other was simply playing football...

Surely that wasn't a serious comment!?!

Come on Plugger, what more does Leo have to do to get a tick from you

Resue a kid from a burning fire ?

Kiss babies in front of the camera ?

Apologise to the Stolen generation ?

Give us and Leo all a break

He is one of the main reasons why we are sitting where we are

He was sensational on Sat night.

Not only did he give us drive, he did a great job when switched onto Lucas

Give credit where credit is due or you will lose any minimal creditabilty that you have left

Roscoe,

That post I made had nothing to do with Leo's football ability, it was in response to Frosty's post about Leo's comeback from injury being up there with McCartney's, which is ludicrous.

On the contrary, Leo was good on Saturday night, it's very hard to bag anyone when we are playing this well, so for the moment Leo is alright.

I can see where Frosty's coming from - Leo could have very easily died, especially if he'd tried to pull the stiff upper lip gig. He was very lucky our medicos were on the ball.

The reason McCartney has been lauded so much though is because of the circumstances of his injuries - his were the result of bravery and selflessness after a despicable act that shook many in this country, either through personal connections, or just through the realisation that we aren't always on the outer in these things (like we were with the WTC tragedy). McCartney has deserved every bit of praise he has received, but that's not to say Leo has been ignored, it's just that injuries as a result of footy are part and parcel of the game. That's why there hasn't been much said in most places about Leigh Colbert's injury on Friday night (which was similar to Leo's).

I have always been a fan of Leo Barry, and he is now playing great football week in week out.

One of the most exciting players in the league, great to see that he still takes the high flyers with a fearless attitude after what happend last year.

On Colbert... he has a bleeding pancreas.

Does anyone know whether that could leave him a diabetic? If the pancreas is damaged, will it still be able to produce insulin?

The Roos' doctor said that it could lead down that path. Heres hoping its not

This whole MaCartney thing has threatened to get out of control all week.....

A life threatening injury is a life threatening injury! It may not be the same but it is certainly in the same ball park! (as Samuel L. Jackson) would say.

As if saving those two girls made any difference to his physical rehabilitation.

What a ridiculous thing to say, Plugger46.

On Colbert - Celebrity Doc Larkins said that long term Pancreas damage would result in things like Diabetes but that in Colbert's case the Pancreas was not damaged as such (Like they can be in a car accident or knifing) but was only bruised and so there is every reason to assume that it will recover all of its normal function.

They only operated to soak up the bleeding - not to repair the organ. The three month lay off is not so much for the pancreas to recover but for the stomach muscle etc and all the other stuff to recover from such invasive surgery.
