I hope he can get in and under and be slippery like Davey around goals. He will never be a high possession player so needs to make the most of his shots on goal and become a goal sneak. Otherwise his size may get him.

It's something to do with his swimming style IIRC.

Flip is a common nick name for someone called Phillip so imagine it's a variation of that.

I read on another site that Phillips has a twin brother named Chris who oozes talent but doesn't have the commitment of Simon.Actually I thought Simon looked taller when he played TAC cause he had dreadlocks and and he actually looked bigger and older. My advice to the kid would be to grow them back.

I found out today that Simon's older sister is married to umpire Matthew Head and she works as a driver transporting prison guards between gaols. She's quite well known as Philips-Head the screw driver.

I heard Micky O interviewed on the radio and he referred to Simon Philips as the jockey so I think thats what the players call him.

Probably because he's almost small enough to ride the favourite at Randwick. :D

Small players don't always stay that way. When Paul Kelly started at the Swans he was a skinny kid from the bush who earned the nickname "Ribs".
