The Australian Country Championships are currently being played on the Gold Coast.

I can't help but laugh at the fact that the ACT has a team in the carnival. What a joke. The ACT is does not enjoy 'country' status and obviously draws their players from the main competition, even to the extent of incorporating three players from Wagga Tigers!!!!

I mean I can cop two sides from Victoria and even one from New Zealand - so long as they are from the ski slopes of the south island :D But really the organisers of this event should wake up to themselves and ensure it is for COUNTRY FOOTBALL, not city leagues masquerading as pseudo country teams.

This competition will not gain credability until it does.

Also, the lack of reporting on the event sucks!

There is some coverage over on the AFL Queensland (http://www.aflq.com.au) website. Note the picture of games being played on a wet Carrara. Wouldn't happen in Newcastle!!
