North Shore 20.16.136 defeated Balmain 8.7.53

Scrappy game.
North showed patches of great team footy, and their full forward dominated.
Balmain struggled to hit their targets all day.

Cheers

Don't know what game you were watching buddy, as I thought it was a very watchable spectactle. Sure I'm not a week-in week-out AFLNSW watcher, and went to the match to get my weekly footy fix in lieu of the AFL week off, but I was very surprised at the physical yet very open football on display. Hardly any negative packs, some beasty hits, an awesome speccy in the second (and a couple of near screamers as well!). Watched on the hill with a can of coke and a sausage sandwich, it was footy in its purest form, and was very watchable.

I reckon the Swans should be giving the local footy a heaps bigger plug than they are at present. For $4 entry a game of grass roots footy is a welcome way to spend an AFLless weekend in Sydney.

I hope to give the local stuff another look before the end of the season.

A very enjoyable day at Drummoyne Oval. It's a great setup there, very picturesque ground and the facilities there are superb. With no AFL on this weekend, it was the best chance for a football fix, and a larger than normal crowd was there.
North Shore went quickly out of the blocks with Chris Dale taking a shoulder-high speckie and converting for the first goal of the game. A sensational mark, and Nick Hosking took another great grab just before half time.
By then the Bombers had opened up a match-winning lead thanks to an 8 goals to 2 second quarter. They're a superbly drilled side and had far too many scoring options. Balmain, with Troy Luff out injured, tried hard and actually won the third quarter, but were comprehensively outclassed for the remainder of the game. Young Daniel Roberts on the forward line took the game apart in the second quarter, and number 16 Marc Bajcic was another standout for the Bombers.
Great to see some RWO people there supporting the local footy. We'll definately have to do that again.

Those who like looking at photos of Sydney football might like to pay a visit to the Gallery at the East Coast Eagles website and review the photos from all games this year Round 1 through to Round 8.

Go to www.eastcoasteagles.com.au and then click on the Gallery link.

Be sure to move your cursor over each photo and click to enlarge it.

I'm sure you'll find plenty to interest you from all rounds.
