COWRA, DUBBO BACK IN FORM

With five rounds to go in the Central West Australian Football League, competition pacesetters Cowra and Dubbo are on track for a September showdown after results returned to form in last Saturday?s games.

Dubbo Demons were too strong at home for the Parkes Panthers, who appear to be having problems with depth as the season progresses. Greg Richter bagged nine majors for the Demons who bounced back after their upset loss to Orange last week. Coach Harvey McRea was best afield for the Panthers.

Cowra took the trip to giant killers Orange and managed to come away with a resounding win after the Tigers couldn?t repeat their outstanding effort from the week before. The two Brendans; Bedford and Reid, managed to both come away with hauls of five apiece for the Blues while Damiien Lee managed five for the Tigers.

At George Park Bathurst Mudgee all but guaranteed themselves this year?s wooden spoon despite a committed effort that saw them very accurate in front of goal. Brogue Rhineberger was best afield for the Bathurst Eagles who ran out 66 point winners.

The students at CSU are on holidays and had the bye.

The win now sees Dubbo, Cowra and Parkes separated only by percentage at the top of the ladder. Orange Tigers are in fourth spot with a big break to Bathurst, CSU and Mudgee.

Dubbo?s Greg Richter is leading the goalkicking with five rounds to go. He is on 77 goals for the season with his nearest rival, CSU?s Ben Crowley on 47.

This coming Saturday sees CWAFL action at Bathurst as CSU return to the fray against Cowra at George Park Bathurst at 1pm. The Dubbo Demons host the Orange Tigers at South Dubbo Oval and will be seeking revenge after their recent loss. In the other game the Parkes Panthers will be keen to keep in touch with Cowra and Dubbo with a home win over Bathurst at North Parkes Oval. The last two First Grade games start at 2.30pm with reserve grade at 12.45pm.
