If last nights game (Carlton v Allstars) was anything to go on he looked fantastic and his set shots looked alot better, very balanced(some may say Lockett like).
He also battled hard in the ruck but was beaten in that dept, however it was around the ground he killed French & co. and I think this season could be the season Goodes becomes the player we all want him to be.

It would be a wonderful thing. Who won the game?

All-Stars 19.14.130 d Carlton 8.9.57

Same old same old for the Blues.

was it my imagination or has he bulked up a bit? he looked a lot stronger in the shoulders and his legs were bigger... he was kicking the ball very sweetly and probably a lot further than usual... he was also jumping quite high...

Goodes will always struggle in the centre against specialist ruckmen - he's just a tiny bit too short and inexperienced in that department. However dpw is absolutely right in saying that around the ground, his pace and fitness will rip most ruckmen to shreds. I see his role as being a rucking "pinch-hitter" to mix things up a bit, otherwise being given some sort of roving role between HB and HF.

You have a crystal ball?

Sweet, so where are we going to finish? Will I win the lottery one day? How about children, how many am I going to have?

What was the deal with Magic at the All Stars game? The sunday newspaper reports about the Swans' training camp at Coffs all said that Micky and Adam were absent because of being in Darwin, YET the telecast only showed Goodesy (but I've only just seen the start with the teams lined up for the National Anthem o the replay now) and there was a photo of Micky playing golf at Coffs, so it doesn't make sense.

Micky and Adam went up on friday i think it was, but Micky had already injured himself (only a slight strain it is reported as thought) in the intra club match at coffs, so didn't play last night, but was helping with the coaching.

I think it's great that Goodes is looking steady early, but I wouldn't read too much into it. Carlton were embarrasingly woeful and hardly put a lot of pressure on the AAS. He's not really a ruckman, more a tall ruck rover. As long as he keeps his head under pressure he will dominate around the ground. That's what we need to see.

He looked superb. His fitness and increased skills were a plaeure to watch, it is a good sign for his season, hopefully it will be injury free. He seems to have bulked up and he carved it up around the ground, pity about Mickey O' though

Is there any news at all on who looked good in the intra club game?

Jeez, some of you blokes are a bit harsh. Admittedly I only watched the first half, but I thought Goodes did his job in the ruck very well.

He's not a tap ruckman - his forte is bringing the ball to ground and forcing it forward, then running off his opponent, and he's one of the best in the business at doing that.

It seemed to me that he nullified the opposing ruckmen very effectively, which allowed the All-stars on-ballers to run the ball forward almost at will.

I too thought he looked bigger all over - in fact he almost seemed taller than last year, but that must just be my imagination??

He plyed his style of game where he takes the tap then runs forward. you could often see he had made himself an option but wasn't often used.

I didn't think he looked much bigger.

The shot at goal was good

;) This is a great time of year. Optimism springs eternal - all 16 clubs are certainties to make the 8 and every new recruit at every club will between them share the Brownlow, Coleman and Norm Smith Medals.
Making big statements about favourite players isn't unique to judes_adams_babe - lots of fans and even some clubs are talking up their chances.

I watched the game on telly last night, and Goodes was sensational. He's shorter than most ruckmen so he won't often be prominent in the hitout stats, but he's quicker than a lot of ruckmen and is able to do more around the ground.

The thing is that there will be some surprises.

In recent years there has been huge turnover in prelim finals team and I'm tipping it again.

There are some fair players from last year who are going to be sensational.

But

Who? Where and for what club?

I'm tipping it's not Brendon Fevola and it's not Carlton.

I didn't see the match but Goodes made the best list for the All Stars.

Well done Goodesy, keep it up!

I thought exactly the same. But maybe it was because he was only around aboriginal players who predominantely aren't big anyhow. And Carlton.....well we won't go there, lol

Looked the "goods" again in the highlights of today's game vs Ess. Could he take the Best and Fairest this year with some.............. CONSISTANCY?

Heck with that I think he could one day win a Brownlow Medal, but lets not get ahead of ourselves to early its only the pre season after all

I know.....but two good games in a row, surely that is a wave of consistancy he can ride into the year. Looks fit and if his mind is right, he could do anything!
