VETERANS Simon Godfrey and Daniel Ward have been axed by Melbourne as the Demons pare their list for 2008.

...

In a club statement, Melbourne said, "Both players established solid reputations for their competitive contributions; Ward for his run out of defence, and Godfrey for his persistent tagging."



How can we resist that!

We have players capable of tagging and working hard in and under. We need outside runners who can take the game on and really finish off the hard work of blokes like Kirk and Co. For that reason, we should probably pass on Godfrey...

Godfrey would be another useless addition to the ever expanding list of taggers....

Though Ward may be worth considering. Rd 5 pick though.. :D

Our current taggers can't tackle ... what's the point in bringing in more??

As long as the opposition teams continue to develop quality midfielders we will need to have the same number of quality taggers.

Exactly. Need to keep the negative and positive in balance, unless we go back to the old ways of free flowing football.
