Would have to say that the first 6 players are def the form players of the comp from what i have seen but i havent been to alot of games this year although i catch Foxtel every week. Would think they would all be fairing pretty well in the Phelan but you never know. Although there would at least be one in the top 10 who should become unable to win after his antics on the weekend

We've had coaches in the past playing silly-buggers with the best player lists, which can skew the top 10 listings. But so far this season it's hard to argue against those players being the top 10.

Norris, When do they update the tribunal section on the League website, thought it would have already be up by now?

PTB, looking at the story on the sydneyafl.com.au site, the bloke i reckon your referring to accepted a one week ban. Do you think he should of got more, word around the traps is that it was an ordinary act, but not suprising.

Def not suprising as the blokes a grub. Def deserved more, he put a 17 year old kid through the fence after he had got a hand pass away, although contact was enevidable he didnt have to follow through and def didnt need to turn around with a smile on his face when he saw what hed achieved. The poor kid had a hole in the side of his head next too his temple that could have been very very dangerous to his health. A few of his own supporters mentioned to people from our club that its been going on all season with a few of the players there and they may not be welcome back next season(dont know how true that is).Just goes to show how inconsistant the tribunal process is as these proscribed penalties are handed out on the opinions of the umpire so you can see one person offered 1 week for say striking and then someone the next week offered 2 or a reprimand for a similar incident with the same record(which has been the case with our club this year). In saying this the consistancy of the tribunal when you front up leaves alot to be desired also.

I would be interested to hear I_Heart_Kefalas and his views. My mail was that the hit was clean and fair, if the fence wasn't there it probably would have been play on. I would presume that I_Heart_Kefalas was probably at the canteen ordering a six pack of pies and a six pack of booze and missed it anyhow.

Fair bump.... yes...... the fact that it was very late......was questionable....
i saw the incident from the sidelines and the ball was the last thing on his mind..... wat makes u wanna look tough infront of a crowd by smashin a 17 year old.... id feel like a goose!!!!
i was told of the players antics prior to the match, and well they were fully displayed....was the grim smile on his face after that was the most disturbing. Even the UNSW/ES supporters were embarrassed.

Norris, When do they update the tribunal section on the League website, thought it would have already be up by now?
Buggered if I know. I did the Record for a couple of years, but I'm not doing it this year; and I've never done the Tribunal section on the website. Normally they update it fairly promptly.
Can't tell you anything more about the incident, I wasn't at that game.

Just read report, doesn't surprise me, seeing his "chicken wings" flying around the field in the Wests/Easts game at Picken when it was on Fox, surprised he's lasted this long. That stuff flies under the radar in 1st Div, not enough scrutiny there. Not condoning it by saying that either, just two different types of footy.

Ive been playing and coaching in Sydney for last 25yrs and it was probably one of the most courageous acts i have seen in my time.

Seems a top class bloke.

Before everyone gets too carried away and all jump on the bandwagon of judging a bloke from afar, I'd like to throw my 2 cents in (or actually my change from the canteen, thanks plucka)...

I have played with and against the Bulldog in question since I was 17, in various rep teams, different state leagues and now finally together for the first time this year at the UNSWES FC.

It would take a very brave person to question this player's ferocity and intensity on the football field... But it would take an even braver person to question this man's integrity and character on the field and off it. Everybody that has known this man for a period of time would describe him as an incredibly hard but fair sportsman who definitely plays within the spirit of the game and a very genuine and sincere bloke with a heart of gold.

Please do not get carried away and judge a book by its cover guys, or a footballer over one incident. We all have moments in this sport where we are not possibly portrayed in the most desirable of ways, I am sure Adam Goodes recent trips to the tribunal are evidence of this.

Hopefully we can all move on from this incident quickly...

BTW, Duck the canteen had ran out of pies, so I was waiting in the Macca's drive through for a Pounder burger and Super Duper Fries with my 2.5ltr coke when the incident occurred. Unfortunately missed the entire game. Heard Supre Abbott kicked 7 without taking off his skivvy or ski gloves which caused a lot of 'Yahooing' from the crowd.. Good work for the old boy.

Thanks Hearty for your informative response. I have been told by a few more people what they saw happen and they all said it was fair but unlucky that the fence was there. Maybe they should look at moving the boundary line in a few yards.

Things happen on the footy field dont get me wrong, and i have been no saint over the years, but i would have to dissagree with you that what happend was A Fair or B In the spirit of the game(Especially with what happened after the event). Another player from our side has his tooth knocked out and the guy who did it(accidently) came up too him after the game too see if he was ok and offered him a beer. I think the guy in question has a reputation as pekay said earlier and obviously this incident has bought it out further into the open. As i said things happen on the footy field but the way a player acts afterwards says alot more about there integrity and character then the act itself ever would.........................

I think in this instance PTB, we will simply have to agree to disagree.

After all, perception is reality, and it appears that our own individual perceptions of the person and the incident are two different things at the minute.

Good luck for the weekend.

The home and away season is complete and, as such, these are my last Top 10 lists before the scoring system gets put to the Phelan Medal test.
It will be interesting to see how things pan out, but you can see who the lists predict will win.
However, I also keep a second list, which I don't publish until now, where I only take into account the top three players in each match instead of the top 10, as there are only three votegetters. Those second lists follow the main ones, and there are some small differences.
I expect the four winners to come from at least the top 10 in each grade on the main list, if not the top 5, but we'll see what happens.
A major upside is that most clubs were very well organised with submitting their best players this year, with only a few Second Division teams and the Pennant Hills Challenge Cup still dragging the chain ? the third lists at the bottom shows which clubs missed out on votes.
Let?s take a look.
