One for the stat monkeys:
At Easter lunch with my family today there was a question put as to who is the most decorated player in the history of the VFL/AFL. With coaches not counted, we came up with Simon Black, with the following accolades; Brownlow Medal (2002), Norm Smith Medal (2003), Premiership Player (2001, 2002, 2003), Club Best & Fairest (2001, 2002, 2006), Club?s Best First Year Player award (1998) All-Australian (2001, 2002, 2004). That makes a total of 12 awards, which is kind of scary considering the guy is still going. Can the great minds of RWO find one who beats this standard?
International Rules does not count as selection can be dependant on a playing style rather then simply a standoutyear. All-Australian covers this aspect. Also Rising Star nominations do not count, only those who have won the award.
