Is Hanners our first First Year Senior player from say the draft?

Excuse mangled English - I can't work out how else to say it. Is he the first player to play Seniors in his rookie/first year in a great while?

Vesz played last year in his first year ... Bird also played whole season last year in his first year on the senior list but he was a slightly different because he came through the NSW scholarship sceme.

Hanners seems like quite a unique case for the Swans though as i wouldn't think we would have played many underage draft picks who weren't training at the club or living in Sydney so in that way i think he's unique ... does that help at all??

Bird and Veszpremi played seniors last year, their first year at the club. Going further back, Jarred Moore also played in 2005, while some rookies have also had instant success: Luke Vogels and Simon Phillips

Jude, Fossie, Ryno and Kirk also all debuted in their first year on the list (I'm ignoring Kirk's brief stint as a supplementary player, when he wasn't eligible to play senior footy).

The myth that the Swans don't play players in their first year is clearly just that - a myth.

Ryan Fitzgerald?

Fitzy debuted in round 1 of his second year on the list. He was set to debut earlier but busted his shoulder (for the second time) just as he was about to win a spot.

Josh Thewlis? Or was he 2nd year?
IIRC he played just one game against Collingwood then got delisted that year so it may of been the 2nd year.

My personal hero. He had the calm good sense to get the ball to Plugger for The Point.

He just so did NOT look like an elite footballer, but there was no better kamikaze kid on the block. But he kept getting knocked out. Where is he now?

How quickly we forget; many on here were excited when a little nugget was named for Round 7, 2005. Kicked a goal on debut, too.

Would that be one Jarred Moore? I think he played his first game on Mother's Day so that would possibly be right???

Vogels and Moore both debuted in that game and both kicked a goal. I guess it depends on who you would like to call a 'little nugget'

Against the Bulldogs ... i thought Vogels kicked a few ... or i know he kicked a beauty to seal the game i think??
