"With Kieren out I guess I have to step up my game as well to sort of take over his role a little bit," said Bird.
What were you doing before Craig, just loafing about??

As opposed to swanning about?
Thought he was good on the weekend - seems to me that if we're gonna play with the big boys we probably need someone like Birdy to have a Jack-like breakout year. Give 'em the Bird, Craig!

Larking about is pointlessly mucking around
Swanning about is to show off

Disappointed the subeditors didn't add the word 'nest' at the end.

I agree with thiat, i didnt think he was all that good at all on the weekend. Certianly ok, but by no means good. He has never really played a great game as far as i can remember, but maybe that says more about my memory than Birds performances....
On a side note i dont think our team as a whole was very good on the weekend, and hasnt been particularly good at all for the whole season, which i think is a positive as we could only get better... right ?

I find Bird a very frustrating player to watch - he often seems to have no awareness of what is around him. I hope he turns into a star, but I agree with Annie's comment - the jury is still out.
