Before the start of this match, and remembering the passion with which we all posted a few weeks ago when one R. Chamberlain officiated at one of our matches, please, today, remember the following:

7) Legal issues
a) The Moderator / Administrator group will keep a very close eye on threads discussing rumours or anything that could be potentially libellous. Moderators and Administrators are not interested in the chance of legal action regardless of how small - if deemed that there is ANY threat to RWO potentially, we will come down hard on it.

7) Legal issues
d) Freedom of speech does NOT = freedom to slander

8) Racial / Sexual Discrimination / Villification
It is not acceptable for members to engage in racial and/or sexual discrimination / villification. It is not acceptable for members to use terminology in describing race or gender in a derogatory manner. Discussing and disputing the views and opinions of other posters is acceptable. Personally vilifying or abusing others for having certain characteristics, or being a member of a certain group (or because you think they're a member of a certain group), is not. This rule shall apply to any post attacking race, skin colour, ethnic background, gender and sexuality.

Today is NOT a day for umpire character assassinations on RWO (nor is tomorrow, but you may have cooled down by then).

(This warning proudly brought to you by a number of moderators that will be online that would like to see and hear a game rather than having to put out your fires. Your cooperation is appreciated.)

Lets hope they put on a better performance than last week - Lets hope they give the umpires few opportunities to blow their whistles - Lets hope this is a good game of football.

GO BLOODS!!

Very wet night in Sydney, but sunny skies and gentle breeze drying things out.

Anything can happen though.

Now, after our reserves being booted off the SCG on at least 4 occasions this year due to the weather and a need to 'preserve' the ground, I'll be mightily pissed off if this mickey mouse exhibition match chops up ANZ, which it no doubt will. They played an NRL match there on Fri night, so the preparation will not be perfect as it is. ANZ is dodgy at the best of times. I'm still half expecting the game to be called off/moved. It will be mightily disappointing for the 2 teams involved, but if they play this curtain raiser, it is officially a joke!!!

Didn't the reserves also get booted off ANZ on one occasion too - the game they moved first to BOP and then to the SCG, where they opened the SCG purely for the reserves game?

Correct Liz.

We played Queanbeyan at the SCG before heading out to the Collingwood game that night.

Maybe they just moved it whilst they looked for some missing tent spikes....

Even though I'm able to watch the game, I've decided not to to avoid the frustration. At my age, keeping updated at R and W online is much better for my Bloods pressure! I said this last year when we have the ball Jetta doesnt know where to run, not the brighest in the world, hasnt got a footy brain,
TDL need to be in our forward line, he can find space and has a great kick of the footy, also its not just our kicking for goal its our kicking all over the park. Our skills coach needs to be also sacked, our skills are the worst in the comp by a long mile. Just over 50%, that is 20% behind the Saints, kicking the leather off the ball doesnt work.

Don't want to dismantle a good rant but TDL had quite a few misses in the ressies yesterday didn't he? Anyway our kicking is disgraceful. It's a habit now. Even people you expect the kick well have completely dropped the ball...We need to draft some good users in very quickly!

Game summed up the Swans at their best this season. Great work rate, great heart, enough brain fades to keep our doctors in business and, of course, lousy conversion. Surprised the Saints didn't give a bit more of a yelp. Sure they were efficient going forward but otherwise were reasonably poor.

Dan the Man is an absolute gem (in case anyone hadn't already worked that out). Sure hhis kicking has been letting him down at times but his workrate and courage are phenomenal.

Just once i would love for us to be like some of the other top 8 teams and bury a side when we control the game the way we did! A win is a win i guess but it's damn hard being a swans supporter! I just saw the other threads that had people wanted Jetta dropped. Huh? I thought he improved enormously today especially as mentioned above with some of his defensive marks.

Mummy was BoG by far but Richards, Shaw (apart from some wayward kicks a few times) were the big ones who controlled from the back. Plus not to mention Goodes, Jetta and Hanners lifting in that final quarter when we needed a push up the ground.

Rohan definitely made an impact when he came on, but I liked that he was the sub because being his first game back in the Seniors, it meant he could be eased again into the action (aka not play 4 quarters) but still make a hell of an impact.

If there was a player who seemed slow today IMO it was Mal and Benny Mc went missing a few times too (even though their stats indicated otherwise).

Maybe this Horse's groundbreaking tactic for breaking the press - I call it the rolling barrage - constant kicking hard and long to a pack contest. It is the role of the Swan's big bodied bulldozers/tanks to smash up the packs for our nugget crumbers. It's not actually the goals that's important in Horse's innovation but the sore bodies in the opposing team.

You know one of our best games last year was against Hawthorn at the SCG and Jesse White was knocking guys over like tenpins in the contests. A couple of times he took out 3 opposing players and TDL licked the crumbs up. We weren't far off that today.

Mike_B

Well we did it the hard way, but were by far the better team. Now to just remember that the goal is 6 points for kicking between the big posts (they were even being reminded of the difference between goals and behinds by the scoreboard messages!).

Mummy was absolutely brilliant - yes he had 54 hitouts which is colossal, but his work around the ground, 2nd efforts etc were just outstanding. Thought Rhyce did a magnificent job shutting Montagna out of the game and got plenty of it himself. Goodesy continued to show his class, Hanners worked his butt off and though McVeigh had his best game for a while. Reid was also very involved which was good to see after such a quiet game last week. Great to see Rohan back - he is the X-factor we need. Still concerned about McGlynn's form - just can't seem to get near it at the moment...

After last week, I'd have taken almost anything today, provided it was an improvement.

Very pleased with the win. Mumford was just terrific today; also Richards, Hannebery, Goodes, Reid, Shaw, Johnson. Really pleased to see Rohan in action again and make immediate impact. Much better effort from many others too, but those names the stand-outs for me.

Small crowd at ANZ and the game was a bit flat through half-time, but I thought the atmosphere picked up a lot when we finally clawed our way ahead and then went 2 up. Saints were down today too; didn't see a lot of their players who normally have more impact. Schneider was pretty quiet; Dempster went OK until he was cleaned up. Lucky that both Riewoldt and Milne were off their kicking today. Ground dried out a lot as the game went on, just one or two very brief and light showers. Blustery outside the stadium but didn't seem bad inside.

Bit of a weird one, winning by 15 behinds, but as I said, I'll take it!

Other than our offline kicking the team's most dominant characteristic was hurting opposition players, the Saints who are up there with the toughnuts of the competition looked like a pack of walking wounded by the end of the game. God knows we aren't the quickest team - so it makes sense to bang it in fast and give our big blokes
A decent chance at a onexne contest

Jesse, Reidy, Goodesey, Mummy, Spang all made decent contributions upmforward.

Horse, please leave Benny in the fwd half as a crumbier and park him there.

Would love to see TDL crumbing to Jesse next week in the fwd line.

Jetta needs a rest. Despite a better effort - still stands off the contest at critical times
One area that was frustrating today was the number of opposition marks inside our 50
Fix this (& our kicking yipes) and we are a chance against anyone.

I was very impressed by the Spang man today. Had a very good game.

The other big hilite was Big Ted's touch of the Schneider goal attempt. That was outstanding.

I think all of the team played well today and it was great for the team to not only win at such a critical time but beat Roosey's old mate in the process.

Next week, we face another big gun after their bye so hopefully they play as badly as collingwood did when they fronted after their bye. If we play the way we did today then we might have a chance.

It would be monumental to beat them at home after 23 straight wins or so. That would be a premiership effort in itself.

I am happy with the win, but not particulary happy with our inaccuracy in front of the big sticks. But the effort was there all day today, and we were deserved winners, and really should have won by about 10 goals. This season might not in the end amount to much, but by gee there is a lot to like about a lot of our young guys.

Teddy - superb again, and if he played for a Melbourne based team he'd be right in there for AA honours. Riewoldt barely seen all day long.

Goodes - really took the game by the scruff of the neck when it was there to be won with a sensational last quarter, but especially over the first ten minutes. He is such a pleasure to watch, and I'd love to think we can make it to week 2 of the finals so that he gets to 300 this year (I will make the trip to wherever that is just to celebrate that fact). What a goal that was too - he really is a joy to behold.

Mummy - wow. Just everywhere today and he really is brutal when he plays like he did today.

Rohan - great little cameo and I'm glad to see him back.

Hanners - he has clearly been stamped with the CLASS factor. His disposal needs some work, but by gee I'll be suprised if he doesn't go very close to winning a Brownlow in his career.

McVeigh - I thought he had a fantastic game today off the HB line. Sounds like his young kid is still not too well, but he really put in a good effort today, kudos to him.

Could Jess be in trouble for the hit on Clarke? Would be dreadfully painful given that was probably his best game of the year. Looked like he was enjoying himself too.

If White's in trouble where does that leave Polo with his deliberate kick on Goodes at a centre clearance. Goodes was going nuts at the umpire saying it deserved more than a free. The replay confirmed his ire with what was clearly a kick attempt which connected and not a frustrating foot out that resulted in a trip. MRP take a good look at this one.

Teddy, Mummy, Shaw, Hanners, Kennedy, Goodes, McVeigh all had good games.

Teddy did great to keep up with and then beat Saint Nick. Mummy dominated in the hitouts, but what made him BOG was that he worked extremely hard to get ball, make space, run, tackle ect. Hanners is a little goer! His last few months have been top notch and I can't wait until he leads this club. Kennedy got down and dirty early while Goodes really provided the spark at the start of the 4th q. Macca was good all game which extraordinary effort considering the trying circumstances that confront him. I have great sympathy for his situation and wish him, his wife and little baby girl all the best. :love_heart:

Special mention to Gaz who has been sorely missed. I couldn't help but have a smile on my face, watching him come on. Cutie. :playful:

To be fair during the heat of the game a lot of crap gets written. There was one drongo who compared our footy smarts to a Cumquat. The mods will ban that idiot pretty soon.

To be fair to that poster; no fool would take him/her/it as an idiot. The remarkable thing about the poster is that they could spell the word or even knows what it is. Who knows they may have just heard it said at a BBQ for instance and thought, "gee that sounds impressive".

I have it on a good authority that this isn't far from the truth. Also he/she/it reckons the iPhone spell assust rockes. ;)

St Kilda supporters once again showing their total lack of humility, or brain matter.

"Despite the dreary loss to an inaccurate and, it has to be said, less talented team than ours"

Man, how deluded can you be?! If the Saints WERE a truly talent top 4 side they'd have steamrolled us. Their second half was utterly abysmal!

Funny the stomach bug the Aints players appeared to have (which has been going around Melbourne like wildfire of late) has reached their NSW based fans as well:rofl:.

Typical swans win! Completely outplayed opposition but stuffed up enough and kicked shockingly to keep it close! Just once i would love for us to be like some of the other top 8 teams and bury a side when we control the game the way we did! A win is a win i guess but it's damn hard being a swans supporter! Now, do we rest players this week and prepare for the lions?

Definetly shouldn't rest players... a home final could depend on percentage... we need to keep it within 30 points this week

So how many dream team points did Mummy end up with? I think I remember seeing him with 90 odd at half time.

The really funny thing is the number of Saints supporters (all over the net) who keep saying we a re boring...drudge fest...blaming roos for the low scoring game.....when we had 33 (count 'em) scoring shots!!!!! And sixty freakin' nine inside fifties....oh we were so dull!

Was it Spangs or Jessie that "revved the bike" after kicking a goal??

Hilarious ... whoever did it.

I'd like to ask these mental giants, you know from one supporter of a boring side to another, exactly how many flags has their side won lately and when's the last time their mob generated 33 shots on goal against a top 8 opponent. Oooohh is that a premiership window I hear being slammed shut.

Special mentions for Jesse's game, he stayed focused where previously he would have gone missing.
Pushed himself to go that extra bit further, very pleased with him.
Now to have him build on yesterdays game and aim towards dominance next season!

Just read some updates a faints supporting associate put up on FB yesterday, they would be funny if he did not actually mean them, best of the best include:
* Chamberlain is so obviously Swans biased, this isn't the 1st time he has won a game for them
* Richards should be reported for his work on Riewoldt-***** disgusting behaviour
* Mumford is a sook
* Give up Goodes, you're done

No wonder Riewoldt is such a crybaby, just listen to his fans

Thought Jesse was fairly good yesterday. We should keep playing him for the rest of the year. I would prefer he didn't to the motorcycle celebration made him look like a wank. Doesn't have any credits saved up to be pulling any of those types of actions.

Loved big Mummy,Ted, Kennedy and Shaw kicking at 90%

I feel like I need a shower after reading that mindless dribble. They really are a graceless bunch. Long may their premiership drought continue.

Considering the hole his career fell in a little bit of emotion is a good thing. Not saying I want him to do it all the time but no issues from me as one off thing.
