Wizard Cup changes to continue
by STAFF REPORTERS

AFL officials are so pleased with the result of rule changes to the 2003 Wizard Cup, including nine-point goals, three points for rushed behinds and more, that further changes will be in place this weekend.

?We think it could be exciting if we were to get rid of the point posts and lower the goalposts to a height of just under three metres ? or eight feet in the old scale,? said AFL boss Wayne Jackson. ?Andy Demetriou is also pretty keen to have a crossbar connecting the goalposts, with a net in between. I don?t know where he gets these ideas.?

The Wizard Cup rules committee is also keen to change the shape of the Sherrin to a round ball, which could help players prepare for the Gaelic-AFL hybrid series later in the year.

?We think we might bring in a rule that you can?t touch the ball with your hands either, to improve the players? foot skills as we head into the season,? Jackson said.

?This weekend?s footy will be unlike any sport you?ve ever seen,? he added.
