Jordan Foote has been upgraded to the senior list: Red & White News - July 6, 2016 - sydneyswans.com.au (http://www.sydneyswans.com.au/video/2016-07-06/red-white-news-july-6-2016).

Slightly odd that it's not been announced by Patrick Keane or formally by the Swans, instead only in the weekly wrap-up. Comments by Harley in that video suggest he may well play this weekend: for Towers?

While it's good for Jordan i am still disappointed that Newman keeps getting overlooked! He's exactly what we need! A composed half back with an excellent kick! I can't see the need for another midfielder coming in to the side. I would say its probably Lloyd who is in trouble if Foote was to play but you never know with our selectors!

Or maybe we want Mitchell to tag Dangerfield or Selwood so we need another inside midfielder to gather the footy. (or vice versa)

In his last 6 NEAFL games he has averaged

12.2 kicks
13.3 handballs
25.5 disposals
2.7 marks
8.2 tackles
7.0 clearances
4.5 inside 50s
1.5 rebound 50s
108.2 DT points

and kicked 5.2

Foote has been named in the best players in all those 6 games including 4 BOGs, so you can't say it's an undeserved promotion.

However I think he will be the traveling emergency as it was quite a logjam already trying to fit Teddy (or Aliir) and Papley into this week's team

Is he quick or explosive off the mark? We don't need another one paced mid

Not really but not slow either. Does well in the 3km time trial.

Ugg he has been impressive no doubt but could you offer the stats for Nic Newman over roughly the same period as I'm getting more and more frustrated as a supporter of him being continually overlooked at being upgraded as i feel he would add a lot of value to the senior team going forward!

I've enjoyed watching Newman play too, but who's position does he take in the best 22?

Let's just say it would have been more apt if his name was Jordan Handballe.

No, just kidding. It's fine, neither outstanding nor terrible.

So does Hannebery, and he is pretty slow.

I do think Foote has a bit of pace about him. There were a few times during the recent Giants game where I was struck by how quickly he closed down space on the ball carrier and was able to tackle or otherwise harass. He's not Jetta or Rohan quick, but certainly quicker than Parker or Hanners or Mitchell (or Robinson or Lloyd).

I agree he's faster than Parker and Mitchell, I think he's about the same pace as Robinson and Lloyd.

Thanks Ugg. They all make a case for selection. As for who i think goes out as suggested earlier by another post, my call would be either Lloyd or perhaps Towers (athough i think he deserves more time). I would move Mills up the ground to replace those 2 leaving a position on half back for Newman and his fine kicking and decision making skills.

I've liked the look of Newman on the three occasions I've seen him, agree I think he would suit us. Worried he will turn into another Shane Biggs going elsewhere at years end and prospering.

Happy to see Foote rewarded for consistent strong NEAFL form as well.

I can well see us upgrading Papley. Marsh and Newman this year and O'Riordan and Foote next year.

I see no reason for us investing so much in the rookies and letting them go to other clubs and with the possible exception of Biggs we are pretty loyal to our rookies.

A third year rookie listing next year for Foote won't hurt him at all, he is still young and there will be opportunities.

I'm a huge Dean Towers fan, and I thought he played well again tonight. But he may well decide that the lure of senior footy and an increased pay check at year end is too good to refuse, and I would not begrudge him that for a second. IF it does happen, and I think we may well be shocked by how highly other clubs rate him, then that well may allow us to upgrade an extra rooke
