So many factors at play. 6 day break and battered bodies. Rohan and Tippett, will they hold up? Quelling Dangerfield. Finals intensity.

It's all in the players heads now. All we can do is sit back and hope they give it everything.

I just always think we will win. 75% or so of the time I am right. Geelong, seriously, they don't deserve a premiership. They are lucky to
even be playing in a prelim.

It will be a Geelong's win and the umps will make sure it happens. I'm expecting a disgraceful umpiring, because AFL doesn't want us in the GF. The first quarter will be indicative whether we came to play.

Actually, this year you have been right exactly 75% of the time. And I expect you to be up to 76% after tonight.

Hate saying this but there is a chance Mike Fitzpatrick may something to the umps. If we blow them out in the first quarter about 5 to 1 goal, then the umps will re think their strategy. I am hoping it not like the Hawthorn game during the year.

I love a good conspiracy theory, but logically, if Mike $h!!tzpatdick were to instruct the umps to cheat and if at any stage in the future even one of the conspiring ups revealed it, can you imagine the backlash? It's a hard thing to cover up IMO

I remember watching that somewhere in town and then rushing over to the SCG to camp out for tickets.
Does anyone have (or have a link to) the video someone (on here I think) made of the 2005 finals series, with Green day's Good Riddance in the background ?

Oh I remember that night like it was yesterday! We were watching the game at home and as soon as the final siren went, my eldest daughter and I jumped in the car and headed to the SCG - couldn't believe how many people had beaten us there!
What a great night/morning that was, everybody laughing and joking, we were one gigantic, happy family that night, all of us thinking we were dreaming!
It might be easier the way it's done now but it's nowhere near as special!

This is taking for ever..

Tippett needs to have a good game take some pressure of Bud and bring the ball to ground which he's not great at. Nankervis played a really good game last week unlucky to miss out.

Also Dangerfield had 8 free kicks in round 16, we had 12 last week

This is the PL we wanted , Minor Premiers, crossed over , saw off The in form Crows, bounced back from a few injuries, will get an 8 day break, have a long list of hard nuts to get this sorted.
See off these pampered pussies and move on.

Dangerfield will get 30+ possessions but more importantly, 10+ free kicks, with all of the 50/50 ones going against us along with some clearly dubious ones being called that we wouldn't get if it was Kennedy or Parker with the ball.

That said, I am still moderately confident we can get over the line with this disadvantage!

Feeling quietly confident. We actually have a good record in Prelims since becoming the Sydney Swans: 5 wins - 2 losses.
I think that we will at least break even in the midfield, and with a reasonable amount of ball going in, our forwards should have too much pace. Be interesting to see who stars? Or which lesser lights will make a name for themselves?

Off to the Big Dance!

I had a sneaky feeling we'd blow those pretenders off the park but I actually think we never gave them a sniff but if Danger and Selwood were not on the field it would have been a walloping

Anyway, the mids set that victory up tonight but Buddy had a great first quarter, Tippett will be better for the run, Rohan was all class and Ben McGlynn and Tom Papley set the scene early, what a great first season for Papley and he is a great set shot for goal.

Aliir looks the only serious injury concern but he looks pretty happy and definitely not a bloke who has been told his season is over, I suspect (hope) it was precautionary. Parks and JPK you'd think should be right. I thought Mitchell was brilliant

I can now thoroughly enjoy the game tomorrow

I have been on tenterhooks since coming up from Melbourne to see the first final; it looked within 10 minutes of that game that we weren't sharp. But the last two games have been fantastic from the team. So many great players, young and old, so many great stories played out tonight. Whoever we play next week, I can't see us repeating the GWS performance. It looks rather like that was the game that reminded the guys of the level of intensity we need to bring to win finals football. Such a great couple of weeks, we've obliterated the first week of this year's finals. Now may we obliterated whatever opposition is ours next week, as well as the memory of 2014.

Yes; our six-day turnaround, which could have disadvantaged us, now turned to advantage by the great showing tonight. And yes, time will tell. As others have said, whatever happens, the team has given us a lot of joy this year. But I dare to dream there's one more in them. I just love the fact that some of the kids - eg Papley with his incredible eye for the goal and confidence to take responsibility and kick the set shot and brilliance to make something out of nothing - have shown no fear of the big stage. Caught the game from Girona, Catalonia. It was a great match to cap off a great vacation from my permanent vacation in Thailand. Will be happy to be back home for the GF. Mrs. L will let me be for a few years and stop threatening to leave me for a Richmond supporter (who would never have a problem gong on vacation in September). It has been a great experience for Mrs L. Before she could only count on her fingers and still made mistakes, but now she can convert the price of every bottle of wine on the shelf from Euros to Thai Baht instantaneously in her head. I think she may have a career ahead of her as a currency dealer.

If (and its a huge if of course) we can finish the job next week, its going to be hard to go past this year as our greatest premiership of the modern bunch. Every premiership has its wonderful traits, but the way we have seamlessly turned over a third of our team and bought in some wonderful young swannies has been amazing. A premiership would be some achievement.

As ludwig said though - there is so much more to come from this group, the next few years promise to be fantastic, no matter what happens next Saturday.

Another interesting factoid that is a possibilty - if the dogs win today and we can knock them off in the grand final, we would have beaten every side in the league this season at least once...

Now just one more win to go, on the biggest day of the footy calender. Come on you mighty swannies!

Finally showing what we all thought he had, a great game and a welcome addition to our best 22, just that he should be on a wing, but then again so should Heeney and Mills!

Geelong supporters are feeling down after that result. Dangerwood were immense last night but they were smashed on the scoreboard. Despite massive recruiting and selling the farm last trade period, a dream draw playing Brisbane and Essendon twice and getting the rest between finals games, they have fallen short with an ageing list and question marks over many of their mid tier players.

This puts into perspective, regardless of next weeks result, what a watershed year this has been for us. So many young players proving themselves to be quality and relatively, a young list profile. A win next week would be fabulous in the context of list management. Just don't let Mitchell walk!

That's so true. At one point during the pregame or game they put the total experience of games played on the screen. Wasn't talked about much but it was in the order of 2900 for Geelong and 2200 for Sydney.

Neither. It's simple, Selwood stages for frees. Whether it's dropping his knees, lowering his upper body, ducking into it and/or throwing his arms up when tackled to make the tackle go high. He also likes to do a bit of diving some days as well. The guy has 300+ high free kicks alone. Great player, but this is one distasteful and unsportsmanlike aspect of his game.

I'm still trying to believe that we have actually made it to the GF. What an amazing effort - again - with Aliir gone early on in the game too. The senior players deserve a medal right now! They have achieved what Dangerfield and Selwood could not do and that is provide that framework for the inexperienced to fit into. The players all want Macca to play - he may be slow and unable to take the game on now but it seems that he has been key to the integration of so many young players into the team so successfully. That said, they managed without him last night.

I am barracking for the Bulldogs to win today, for several reasons but if they do and we were to play them in the GF and win, it would be akin to shooting bambi in the eyes of Melbourne football public who have already jumped on their bandwagon.

I have been pondering who I want to win tonight: GWS will be tough to beat next week, but I've more chance to get a ticket and we'd have all of Melbourne on our side. Doggies slightly less difficult opponent but we would be murderers for killing their dream. Do I secretly hope Mummy goes berserk tonight and gets rubbed out for the GF?

Selwood spends a whole lot of energy telling the umps how to umpire.
Yes he does but about 90% of the time he gets his desired result!

Danger may get a lot of the ball but all his kicks are floaters.

This is true but so are a lot of rohans kicks - sometimes it's more about what you are kicking to - our smalls seemed able to find space and mark the helicopter kicks but Dangerfield kicked to a contest where our defenders out pointed their opponent.

Wow ... didn't expect this ... no doubt the best successive weeks of beautiful football from the Swans I have seen in 65 years of support.

Very clever ruse of Bernny to save his career best for now.
