Unrelated but anyone got a draft of the finals? I.e. Length of each divisions finals?

It's a bit ridiculous not even knowing how many teams make finals in the divisions outside of M/WPrems/Ressies/19s

The bylaws on the AFL Syd website has all this information?

8 teams or less competition - top 4 in finals
9 or more teams competition - top 5 in finals. I’m pretty sure.

Rumours are all Prems, U19 Div 1 and both Platinum GF’s will be at Henson Park. All other division GF’s at BISP.

Up to 8 is top 4.
9-12 is top 5.
13+ is top 6.

I prefer going to finals at Henson.

Looking less likely every hour. But until it's officially called off, we have to assume it's on.

No games outside of greater sydney which is lucky.

No games outside of greater sydney which is lucky.

While we're assuming games will continue at this point. Camden, NorWest Jets and Penrith from what I can see are within the described Sydney Metropolitan area, while Wollondilly is further south of Campbelltown, so my understanding is they are outside of the Sydney Metropolitan area?

They can come into Sydney Metro, but people in those 7 LGA's can't go out.

I think norwest is out of it too.

Saw a post from JRL that games are on but all spectators need to wear a mask.

NSW touch football just posted theirs. New Restriction’s Community Sport in NSW | NSW Touch (https://www.nswtouch.com.au/new-restrictions-community-sport-in-nsw/?fbclid=IwAR3w1xMRNH-WCsxXhykXQc4YUH4Ia890cyiG8fLLTVRsh48Xo-9fYpW6tZI)

Seems we should be ok though depending on tomorrows announcement.

We should be ok. Even though there were 18 cases announced today, 90% of those were linked to previous clusters.

How many players & umpires work in the city? Unfortunately I can't see how we can put teams on the field this weekend.

Junior rugby league anticipating a start day of July 17 if lockdown ends on 9th.

UPDATE FROM THE NSWRL REGARDING COMMUNITY RUGBY LEAGUE RETURN TO PLAY
All suspended competitions across the Greater Sydney Region are scheduled to resume on the weekend of 17 July 2021, giving teams the opportunity to train before returning to play, but that will be subject to the NSW Public Health Order at this time.

Any ideas or inside info as to what's going to happen with the games missed due to lockdown? Will they be made up and the season be extended by 3 weeks to get them in or will they be lost? How will it effect those sides vying for finals etc? Thoughts anybody...

League’s preference is to get as many games in as possible, so wouldn’t be surprised if the season is extended.

Hand the Cup to Norths - Season is over. Then Norths will not have the pressure of playing finals.

I've heard they're considering extending it by a week, but no more than that. Unless the AFL season gets held over, they won't play our season past the AFL Grand Final.

The way things are looking in Sydney at the moment this may not be too far from reality :dejection:

Can’t see us getting on the park before August at best. But if we can get at least 2 rounds in before finals then that should help teams and players regain a bit of form at least.

We can't possibly choke from here!

In all seriousness in the by-laws I assume there is something written to acknowledge either a no result or ladder leader should the season be abandoned?

If it comes to that I have no issues... everybody has played each other once and Norths are unbeaten so yeah give em the trophy.

I can't find anything in the by-laws about a season being abandoned. Clearly there's no chance of the season re-commencing. My guess is there'll be no premierships awarded for 2021.

It's not really to do with our local footy, but all of us footy lovers must be thrilled that the AFL Sydney teams can play tomorrow - personally, I had been struggling to get my head around no SFL AND no footy on TV this weekend.

There are some seriously clever people working behind the scenes in the AFL to keep the show on the road.

If only I get to see Norris behind the goals wearing his green headband then I'll know there's a God !

So are we prepared to say Season 2021 is done? Personally can't see lockdown ending before October long weekend... thoughts?

Season officially over for both seniors and juniors. No premierships, medals or awards.

Not unexpected, but a sorry state of affairs nonetheless.

Why not give Norths the Men's Premier Division Premiership, they actually deserve it for their season to date. What is there to lose.

I don't think there will be anybody internally rallying for the premiership as such. If Sydney AFL decided to award various grades premierships (I would limit to Men/Women Prem, Ressies, 19s) you would accept it under the circumstances, hardly a celebration.

Unfortunately for some of those players who have long been searching for a premiership (and the club itself), this is the just another chapter in the quest! Even if it was rewarded, it would carry same empty feeling as losing a grand final, left asking yourself what if!
