As a student of the game (if footy was the HSC, I'd be flunking Year 7) can someone explain what the term "one per-centers" means? The commentators and posters on this forum use it all the time.

I've been watching the Swans for about 7 years now, and I've roped in a bunch of friends who are all mad keen on the game, but we still don't know what we're talking about half the time.

A one percenter is a small (but often crucial) act that is not covered by the usual statistics (kicks, marks, goals, tackles etc). One percenters can appear to be insignificant on their own, but they can dramatically influence the outcome of a passage of play. Smothers, chases that apply pressure, shepherds and assists are all examples of one percenters.

That makes sense. I saw someone post about Tadhg's crucial one per-center that allowed Amon to pass to Jude to kick the goal to win the game... thanks for clearing that up!
