We’re a local community sports club which offers kids, young people and adults opportunities to develop and participate in sport competition and skills-based programs in a safe, supportive and inclusive environment.

We’ve a proud history and tradition, with the Bloods senior footy team dating back to 1912 and senior aths dating back to 1936.  The club has close links with the Sydney Swans, through its historical connection to South Melbourne.

Participation

Currently, the club operates 7 sports - senior footy, junior footy, auskick, senior aths, junior aths, junior cricket and cricket blast – operating across 3 sports codes – footy, aths, cricket.  Each sport is affiliated with a district league or association and competes with other community teams.

In 2019, each sport fielded the following:

  • Senior footy:  230 participants in 6 teams, including 2 women’s teams, 2 U19s teams and 2 men’s teams

  • Junior footy:  450 participants in 20 teams, including 3 girls teams

  • Auskick: 306 participants

  • Senior aths:  65 participants

  • Little aths:  200 participants

  • Junior cricket:  120 players in 12 teams

  • Cricket blast:  144 participants

Facilities

We operate from the Clarke Shields Pavilion in Albert Park Reserve and use nearby ovals and other spaces within Albert Park Reserve and the City of Port Phillip through partnerships, which we provide to each sport and the community for use.

Governance

We’re an incorporated association, registered in 1990 with the purpose of promoting and encouraging sport in the community.  The club is managed by a committee made up of executives (president, vice-president, secretary and treasurer) and a representative from each sport.  The club’s membership comprises of participants (junior players and senior players) and supporters (parents of junior players). Please click on the Governance tab at the top of the page for link to the AGM.

Community

Through each sport, there’s an extensive off-field program of social activities and events, all of which aim to foster friendships and goodwill within the community. We’re thankful to our volunteers who dedicate their time and effort to run the sports and the club, and we’re grateful to our sponsors who enable us to raise funds and invest back in grassroots level sports, equipment, players and infrastructure.

We welcome new members to participate in our sports and connect with our community!
