It's too hard to get to.
Too expensive to get to (unless they do the free transport with the ticket thingy).
It has no atmosphere. Imagine what it would be like when the Swans only get 25,000 people there - might as well play at Rookwood.

Agree. I don't think they'll make a complete move in the near future (although if we win another couple of premierships they may consider it!). For blockbuster games it is a decent venue, if not perfect. But there's no point having every game there as unless the place is filled to at least half capacity there is zero atmosphere.Originally posted by punter257
i reckon the quota of 3 games will increase to 5-6 in the next few years
id like too see us at the TS, seems alot easier/better equipped and less hassle too (1 bus to get on)
btw i didn't rate that mcg atmosphere maybe just because i was in members
best 4 atmospheres (i can remmeber)
1. Syd v Bris 2003 PF
2. Syd v Geelong 2005 QF
3. Syd v Essendon 1996 PF
4. Lockett's 1300 goal ground invasion.

Never. The SCG is our spiritual home in Sydney.
hopefully the swans will NEVER move to homebush..what a dump..when it has 45000 it is still half empty , a cold soulless place..45000 at the scg is a cauldron for the opposition.the SCG has heart , tradition ,history , soul, atmosphere.it is our home
After attending the G yesterday and sitting in M34 Ponsford end, I can tuly say it has the best facilities of any stadium I have ever been to. Queues for bars, food and toliets moved quickly, not a bad seat in the house, places to sit down and have a bite to eat.
The SCG is an absolute embarassment in comparison
Agree, and I made that known in my responses in the club's members survey. I don't know if the club getting constant feedback about the pathetic standard of facilities at the SCG will have any effect on improvements, but if we don't say our bit, we have no hope at all.Originally posted by Bart

If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.

It's amazing the difference between areas at the SCG. Our normal seats are in the Noble stand and the facilities there are first class. Heaps of bars, food outlets, grass area, dining room, toilets etc.
We then sat in the Churchill for the Geelong game and the facilities were terrible. Long queues, bugger all toilets, stairs not escalators...
the SCG is the worst ground in the AFL. pure and simple.
its a crappy place to get to and from, in and out, the line up's are just incredible for both the in's and out's.
the place needs to be almost rebuilt. cant touch the ladies and members stands, but the other half of the ground needs re-building.
i love the place for all the memories it has given me, but its past its used by date.
see ya!

That is why Telstra Stadium has it over the SCG.Originally posted by Bart

I don't have a problem with Telstra Stadium nowadays,it does make a great AFL venue and i've learned to appreciate it.
I don't know whether to move all our games out there in the future but expect an increase of games moved there next year.
The MCG does have great facilities.
I love the SCG but i am getting sick of the queues and the confined spaces around that ground like the walkways.
Well done Craig Bolton for getting the co- captaincy in 2008.
Your determination, your tenacity and your under-rated skill is why you have become my favourite player!
There are no plans to renovate the SCG on the cards are there? I love the place but it could certainly use some fixing up in areas.Originally posted by The Undertaker

After watching the football from the MCG - I realise that Telstra Stadium is a pile of ********e. There is no other way about it.
The SCG does need a face lift, take down the Noble/Bradman/Dally Messenger stands and make a new three story stand that could hold 10k more. And also give it a purpose built members area.
The things that the MCG and SCG have in common and that Telstra Stadium lacks is locality. It is crap to get to and there are no pubs for a stroll back into the city.
And anyone that drives to a game is crazy and the sooner that petrol prices reach $5 a L the better.
