Shake Down the Thunder - Book

I have had a work friend give me a copy of the book with the above title today.

It is another book written by Jim Main in the Jim Main style.

I can't tell you how I obtained a copy but it hasn't been released at the bookstores yet.

Most if it is a re-hash of the Sydney history with the addition of the GF and players and coaches thoughts on what was happening during the game. I haven't had a chance to have a good look through it but if you're read Plugger and the Sydney Swans then you've probably read most of this book.
In memory of my little Staffy - Dicey, 17.06.2005 to 1.12.2011- I'll miss you mate.

gotta hope that if we win the trivia night again this year, they dont have another copy in the goody bag! I had already bought the book previously to so I gave the one I won away to another Swans supporter who appreciated it.
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure..................

Any forwards sign it or were you just after midfielders?
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

I got the really really hardworking fwds, Hall and MOL.
But I think Davis and a few of the midfielders signed it as well.

I was actually quite disappointed in that book. I think the 2005 Premiership cried out for a book or doco which looked at various aspects of the Grand Final win

If you look at the game, our team and the various individuals who played a role we had some unique stories

    - an Irishman
    - an ex Rugby player (LRT) who was one of the best players on the ground
    - the Leo mark
    - the winning goal by Buchanan, in that its been totally overshadowed by THAT MARK!!!!
    - Paul Williams - most games played by an individual before winning a premiership
    - Abletts kick across goal which almost lost us the game
    - Craig Bolton, who was an emergency in Brisbane premiership teams
    - Jason Ball, who won premierships with West Coast and against West Coast in his first and last seasons respectively
    - Nick Davis' role in getting us to the Grand Final...against Geelong
    - the Blood spirit...guys like Kirky
    - Roos, champion player with no premierships...the path he took to becoming coach
    etc etc etc

There are obviously stories behind the scenes as well...some not directly involved in the win...but part of the club spirit...there was a supporter (with cancer or something?) who was in the coach's box, you could argue the loss of Wally Jackson in 2004 was also part of building the club spirit etc etc

Maybe all supporters think that there is a unique story about their clubs premierships, but all the above...and the fact that it was the longest drought in history, to me anyway, said someone should have written a book or made a dvd
