Bizarre end to the match in Launceston today....

They need a new siren at Launceston.

Freo up by 1 point, ball in Saints' forward line, siren goes, umpires didn't hear it, a Saint scores a point.

It gets more interesting. Umpires confer, they don't know what to do; the score is annulled. The saint was dumped after he kicked it so he got another kick. He scores another point a full three minutes after the game ends.

Result: Draw. The most bizarre ending to a game I have ever seen.

Trivia: This is Fremantle's first ever drawn game.

No. The rules of the game dictate that a quarter ends when the umpire blows the whistle and raises his arms in the air. The sounding of the siren does not end the game; it only lets the umpires know when the time has expired.

i would hope so - otherwise there is no credibility whatsoever in the afl

They should as the game was actually complete before Baker got his hands on the ball the first time. Whether they will or not is a totally different story.

Well then did the umpires do that then. If they didn't hear the siren the first time then why would they blow the whistle after that. FARCICAL.

One of the most disgraceful end to a game I have ever witnessed. In a game worth millions we have a $2.00 siren.(Funny how the Freo guys heard it as one but the 3 blind mice couldn't). I know they can't but the AFL should award the match to the team who won the game in the legal time.
