Paul Roos has confirmed six players are in contention for the Swans' captaincy.

The list is Stuart Maxfield, Matthew Nicks, Michael O'Loughlin, Jared Crouch, Ben Matthews and Jason Saddington.

"We have a practice match on February 16 so we are pretty keen to get it done before then," Roos said, "We are not 100 per cent certain yet."

Ray McLean, an expert in leadership who operated with St Kilda several years ago, has been working with the players.
