    RND 1 v Essendon.

Hopes are up. We all remember the Swans last game in Melbourne. Over 45,000 at Telstra to watch we we hope will be a promising year. No Hird. No Kennelly.

Also missing Ball and Bevan. Super Ted and Chambers get their first run in the R&W, while McVeigh rounds off the changes. Things get off to a good start. For them. Lloyd (8 goals) is unstoppable. 9 goals to 2 first qtr sets up an unassailable lead, even with Hall kicking 7 goals at the other end. We were killed out of the centre.

    ESSENDON 9.1 11.3 13.6 17.6 (108)
    SYDNEY 2.2 8.4 10.6 12.9 (81)

Paper Best: Goodes, Hall, Buchanan, J Bolton.
    Brownlow Essendon v Sydney (TD)
    3. M Lloyd (Ess)
    2. S Lucas (Ess)
    1. B Hall (Syd)

    RND 2 v Port Adelaide

Many have made the trip to Sydney to see the unfurling of the first Premiership flag to be unfurled at the SCG. Hopes are up, again. Last week was just a minor hiccup.

Perfect sunny day, 2 goals to MOL in the opening minutes and we are up. However, Port are here to spoil the party. Hall has gone missing. So have the swans. Port lead at every change.

    PORT ADELAIDE 5.3 9.10 14.14 15.16 (106)
    SYDNEY 3.1 4.2 7.6 11.14 (80)

Paper Best Sydney: J Bolton A Goodes B Kirk N Fosdike.

    Rnd 3 v Carlton.

    The Flag Comes to Melbourne.

0-2 after 2 games. GF Hangover?

After the initial noise with the flag being presented to the crowd, the start of the game is eerily quiet. No crescendo of noise at the first bounce. First goal to the Blues. Can this be the 3rd loss in a row?

MOL gave Saddington a lesson in the first qtr.Hall gave Whitnall the run around and Leo was doing the job of Fev.

Carlton flooded, Sydney chipped, blues fans booed, and sydney fans screamed with frustration.

A dour contest, Carlton came back in the last qtr but were unable to arrest the lead. After being 5 goals in front, Carlton banged on 5 unanswered goals to draw level. Some very poor defensive work let the blues in for some easy goals.

366 (Syd) possessions to 245 (Car) and we can only muster a 7 point victory.

Only 1 Sydney player did not make double figures for disposals. (Chambers = 0).

135 Marks (Sydney) to 60 (Carlton) with Barry hauling in 18 all of which were uncontested.

    Sydney: 4.3 6.4 10.7 12.9 (81)
    Carlton: 1.3 3.4 8.6 11.8 (74)

    Paper Best: Sydney: B Kirk L Barry J Bolton B Hall R O'Keefe M O'Loughlin.
    Brownlow Carlton v Sydney (TD)
    3. J Bolton (Syd)
    2. A Bentick (Ca)

    Rnd 4 v Melbourne.

From one lacklustre affair to another. The hangover looks like it has not worn off. Bring on the Panadol.
The Swans have not come to play again.

Scores are level with 5 minutes to go after a Schneider goal from a 50m penalty. Bruce snaps a goal with 40 secoonds left.Malceski has the chance to make a name for himself, but unfortunately is not up to the task and the Dees hold on for a 5 point win.

EDIT: Forgot to mention Chambers breaks his kick drough with 2! ( I think I missed the first one.)

    MELBOURNE 3.3 7.5 10.6 15.7 (97)

There was some second hand red crepe being given away 12 days ago. Only used once (24 Sept 2005), somewhat torn.
