Round 7: Geelong v Brisbane Lions

Jonathon Brown, Simon Black and Gary Ablett are all late withdrawals for the Cats and the Lions. Interesting....

At quarter time, the Brisbane Lions have done a great job leading by 11 points.

    Brisbane: 5.6.36
    Geelong: 4.1.25

    Goals for Brisbane:
1: Scott Harding, Justin Sherman, Anthony Corrie, Michael Rischitelli and Daniel Bradshaw

    Goals for Geelong:
1: Jimmy Bartel, Joel Corey, Ryan Gamble and Tom Hawkins

    Best for Brisbane:
Tim Notting, Jed Adcock, Jared Brennan, Justin Sherman and Michael Rischitelli

    Best for Geelong:
Jimmy Bartel, Andrew Mackie, Harry Taylor, Joel Corey and James Kelly

Good game of Football this one.

At half-time, the Cats fought back hard after tralling by 19 points at one stage in the 2nd quarter, in a great game of Football that has great defensive pressure. The Cats have all the momentum and could run away with the game in the 2nd half however.

    Geelong: 7.6.48
    Brisbane: 6.8.44

    Goals for Geelong:
2: Mathew Stokes, 1: Jimmy Bartel, Joel Corey, Ryan Gamble, Cameron Mooney and Tom Hawkins

    Goals for Brisbane:
1: Mitchell Clark, Scott Harding, Justin Sherman, Anthony Corrie, Michael Rischitelli and Daniel Bradshaw

    Best for Geelong:
James Kelly, Andrew Mackie, Joel Corey, Jimmy Bartel and Mathew Stokes

    Best for Brisbane:
Tim Notting, Joel Macdonald, Jared Brennan, Justin Sherman and Michael Rischitelli

Brisbane are missing Jonathon Brown and Simon Black more than what Geelong is missing Gary Ablett at this stage.

The Lions have been real gutsy today, and they only trail the Cats by 5 points at 3 quarter time. This game could go either way.

    Geelong: 11.8.74
    Brisbane: 10.9.69

    Goals for Geelong:
2: Jimmy Bartel, Ryan Gamble, Mathew Stokes, 1: Joel Corey, Steven Johnson, Cameron Mooney, Tom Hawkins and Max Rooke

    Goals for Brisbane:
2: Mitchell Clark, Luke Power, 1: Scott Harding, Justin Sherman, Anthony Corrie, Rhan Hooper, Michael Rischitelli and Daniel Bradshaw

    Best for Geelong:
James Kelly, Andrew Mackie, Joel Corey, Jimmy Bartel and Cameron Ling

    Best for Brisbane:
Justin Sherman, Joel Macdonald, Tim Notting, Jared Brennan and Jed Adcock.

6 lead changes in that term, and I'm really enjoying this game. Anybodies ball game now.

They're travelling very well considering no Brown.

Interesting to see if the Cats do to Brisbane what they did to us.
The eternal connundrum "what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object" was finally solved when David Hasselhoff punched himself in the face.

That said - seems the Cats miss Ablett more than the Lions miss Brown - Ablett being a chief architect in our being thumped.

    It appears they can.
