The eternal connundrum "what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object" was finally solved when David Hasselhoff punched himself in the face.
Carbon copy of the last ANZ Stadium game against Collingwood and we had Goodes that night.

I think a lot. We really struggled at the clearences, Goodes would have helped massively there. Also, we lacked a lot of run through the lines, something Goodes would have also changed.
As has been posted elsewhere, Goodes picked up 3 votes when we got pumped Rd 20'ish last year and would have got 3 votes in the final, when we also got pumped.
Goodes could have played and had a blinder last night and it's conceivable that it would have not made one iota of difference to the result, unfortunately.

He definitely makes a huge difference. I commented during the game that when we are down and need a spark in the middle, it usually comes from Goodes. Roos has no other ideas to generate that.

Goodes busts packs, nobody else seems to do that at the moment. There were probably a few times in the first couple of quarters that we needed someone to bust through a pack and just get the ball going forward on brute strength.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time
I still think we only have three players who know how to get the ball regularly. These are kirk, goodes and bolton. We only have five players that can run past players - barry, malceski, keneally, goodes, mattner and three of these are not doing it at the moment - we have two players that can take contested marks - o'loughlin and goodes and we have two players who are fit enough to run their opponents off their legs - goodes and o'keefe.
Goodes is a frustrating player because there is a very big gap between his best and his worst (I will never forget one quarter - last quarter - he played against adelaide in adelaide in a low scoring game about 4 years ago where almost by himself he won the game) but there are times when he is simply anonymous.
anyway the point is that he would have made a difference - maybe not enough but it gives us something to be pleased about - when he was head and shoulders above anyone else in those two floggings last year at least you could say the best player played for us.
