How Many Would Plugger Get Now?

Watching yesterday's 'closer than ever to basketball' match made me wonder just how many goals Plugger would have kicked with the current in-the-back and arm chopping rules.
Granted that he would have given a few frees away, I think he would have picked up at least half a dozen frees a week simply by presenting himself. His strength and skill was so dominant that he would be almost impossible to stop legally under our new rules.
Any thoughts? Of course, I suspect Dunstall wouldnt have had much trouble getting an easy hundred or more every season for the same reason.

Looking only at the thread title, I thought the question was 'how many would he have got now for his hit on Caven?' My answer: about 10-12 weeks.

To answer the question you were actually asking: you could only add 50 more to his career total at most. BBBH (and Matt Lloyd at the other end of the spectrum) confirm that under tiggy-touchwood rules, bruising-looking guys are still regarded as being able to look after themselves, where Olympic quality divers will do better than ever.

There are some very poor alleged 'chopping the arms' decisions being made; one in the Blions v Essendon game against Joel Patfull was embarrassing. His fist was put right up in the slot where the Dons forward was trying to mark the ball, and there was no subsequent downward movement to the upper arm or shoulder at all. A textbook attempted spoil. Which, it seems, is now illegal.

The problem would be that in the current climate the Peter Caven incident would have seen Tony forced into early retirement so he could never captilize on the boom!
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Happened to us yesterday too (although I'd have to watch the replay again to tell you exactly when and to whom).
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

On yesterday's performance, we wouldn't have the midfield to get the supply to him...

He would get the same as he did, it appears that if you are big and can take strong marks then there is a different set of rules applied.

He was continually whacked in the head, pushed and held but still got very little in the way of protection for the umpires.

Consistency in application of the rules please.

Probably about the same. Never got the free kicks he deserved then, so I don't see why it would change.
