Thread: 2008 Finals Series - Week 1

    2008 Finals Series - Week 1

We've only played North Melbourne once in a final - the Grand Final of 1996, and we all know how that ended.

Our form over the past two months has not been good. We've had an unsettled team, plagued by injury to key players, with uncharacteristic poor discipline and morale making matters that much harder.

Despite this, we have reason to be optimistic about this Saturday's game. We had a good win at the SCG last week; North had a very bad loss at the MCG. How would they feel knowing they blew their chance at 4th spot by going down to the team that finished 13th by 12 goals? How would we feel if it was us? Now they have to travel interstate to play at a venue they've never seen before.

I think we're going to progress to Week 2 of the finals. Swans by 18.

Once again Hammo doesnt fail to dissappoint with his pessimism.

I'd love to be proved wrong

I will happily tell you so too just as soon as I can get onto the Net after the game.

I don't want a goal for goal type arm wrestle which most of our finals tend to be. A free-flowing game would be better.

The Swans including the coach believe they can win, and I wouldn't mind Roosey coming out and saying that the players have grown sufficiently in self confidence and self belief with the help of the young guns to put Norths away instead of the old rhetoric we have to play for four quarters blah blah blah....

Well at least he's showing us some respect. We just can't seem to win with the Melbourne media, in spite of last weekend's results. Most of the writers at Inside Football are tipping North to win fairly easily - a couple even regard them as a safe bet. No wonder Roos was having a go this week.

    Draw.

(PS: What happens if it is a draw?)
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.
