Sam Newman's Blast against the Swans

On the footy show Sam really got stuck into the way the Swans play footy. Called our style of play a disgrace and that someone will make a civil suit against us for bringing the game into disrepute.

Let's hope we bring our A game on the weekend!

Sam is an idiot but who likes our 2007/2008 game plan?

    He says that every year...

Old man Sam even said the Swans wouldn't make the finals in 2006...
I only support one team: The SYDNEY SWANS!!!!!

The hypocrisy of some posters on this site at times is astounding!!!!!

So Sam says what has been said here all week and you have a go at him.

    Unbelievable hypocrisy.

    My feelings exactly. Prize nong.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

    He's probably right.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

I also find the Swans style of play at best frustrating.

Best footy I've seen us play in ages was the first quarter last week - not because we were dominating, but because we played direct and exciting footy rather than the 'keepings off' footy.

Then we slipped back to the monotonous, unexciting, and most frustrating style of play that we are used to and I became quite disinterested.
And that is going to happen with the Swans.

I accept that there is a reason for the style of play - to win games - and it's served us pretty well over the last few years (obviously in 2005) but there's no point in winning games that way if the club loses supporters.

Something for the club to think about.

In the end I agree with Sam.
If I were commenting on a team other than the Swans I would be saying exactly the same thing.....

The bloke is a prize goose, but given the tripe that was served up by your lot on the weekend even the punters at the Courthouse Hotel would have to agree.....

    Good luck against the Hawks.

Roos agreed that the first quarter was the best footy they've played for years. And he and the players admitted they slipped back into a stop start game after quarter time, and they rued that move and said they will try not to do it again. So don't blame the game plan, blame its execution.
