With the top four in the Premier Division having secured their finals positions, the door on the battle for fifth place is close to being won by Campbelltown, with the door just slightly ajar for North Shore.
A win by Campbelltown (Wollongong), and a loss for North Shore (Pennant Hills) this weekend, sees the Blues 8 points ahead of the Bombers. Percentage-wise it's very close with Cambelltown on 86.37% and North Shore on 86.06%.
So, North Shore need to win their two remaining games (C'Town and Balmain), and have Campbelltown lose both, and they should (with assumed adjustments to percentages with the results) make the finals. Campbelltown need just one with against either North Shore or St George to secure fifth spot.
Next weekend sees the Bombers take on the Blues at Gore Hill. Can North Shore keep their finals hopes alive with a win over the Blues (and assumingly a win the following weekend over the Dockers), or will Campbelltown end the Bombers' season with an away win?
Should the Bombers beat the Blues next weekend, we could see a cliffhanger end to the season with their round 18 games being played simultaneously against opposition they both should beat (Balmain and St George, respectively).
