For those with a passion for statistics, assuming Geelong aren't too tough on Carlton, the last time Sydney found themselves on top of the ladder for a given round was Round 1 2005. The last time they were number so advanced in a season was Rounds 5 to 7 back in 1998. .

I have calculated that this is the 118th time that South Melbourne/Sydney has found themselves at the end of a given Round at the top of the Table. 96 times as South, and 22 times as Sydney

Remarkably, on the last two occasions that the Swans won the flag, in 1933 and 2005, they were on top of the ladder for just one round in those entire two seasons: Round 1 2005 as stated above, after a big first game win over Hawthorn that year.

I have to say. My multi got rooted due to the drastic upset factor this weekend. Secondly, my dream team got pipped by 1 point.
All that being said.......... SWANS = #1 after round 5 and looking great, the whole unit seems fantastically happy to be playing with each other!

Well done boys! I go to the dentists chair tomorrow with a big smile

I definitely did an excited and embarrassingly childish victory dance around the house when I saw the ladder. Yes, it's only April, but a confidence-building moment to savour as we head into more challenging territory.

This should have a Minor Premiers star. How could you overlook that this is the year that we went the closest of any side to going undefeated in a season (a single 5-point loss)?

The Swans were never on top of the ladder in 1933. The Swans got to 2nd in the final round but that is as close tot he top as the Swans ever got that year.
