A few 'sling' tackles this weekend - will be interesting to see what MRP has to say .

A couple of interesting tackles for the MRP to look at ...

6min20 to go, first quarter Syd v Ess - Leroy Jetta slings Gary Rohan to the ground forcefully (winning a hot free for HTB and then goaling).

2min28 to go, second quarter Pies v Dogs - Ben Hudson slings Luke Ball to ground. Free kick against and reported for rough conduct.

Considering the similar styles of these two tackles, and throwing in Mummy's on the precious one a few weeks ago, it seems if a player lays a tackle of this type they can expect one of the following:

    - a free kick for HTB against opponent, no report (and if really lucky, score a goal from the free); OR
    - free kick against and in-match report for rough conduct; OR
    - no free kick, play on, MRP plucks a report out of its arse and you miss two weeks!

    There's nothing like consistency hey!

And another thing - the umpies seem to be ignoring the Giesch's oft repeated mantra of only paying what they see. The Simon Black 'non-handball' was called by an umpire whose view of the ball was obscured by Black's body. Because the ball pinged out so fast, he obviously guessed that it was a throw and blew the whistle. Replays were unkind to the umpies interpretation to say the least!

    EDIT/UPDATE:

Hudson in the clear, from realfooty.com.au ...

No action will be taken against Carlton's Jarrad Waite and Western Bulldogs' Ben Hudson after their match day reports were asssessed. Waite's contact with Melbourne's Matthew Bate was assessed as "inevitable and was not deemed to be reportable."

Hudson's charge of rough conduct against Collingwood's Luke Ball was not sustained as a medical report indicated Ball suffered no injury, meaning the force of Hudson's tackle was not excessive.

Or maybe Ball has a head of cement!

From this, we can unequivocally conclude that Mummy was outed because precious had a bit of a headache and was still bellyaching about it after the game (in which he amassed disposals at will and was best on ground to all except his coach). Any player who does what he is coached to do and tackle a player to the ground is effectively playing russian roulette with the MRP. Ridiculous.
