    Sydney v St Kilda 1994

This match is currently being screened on Fox Sports Chooseday Night Football. Swans currently up 3-1 to 1-0. Some bloke called Lockett just cleaned up Peter Caven. Match also features Dale Lewis with his best new wave hair style, a young Paul Kelly and the great Troy Luff.

    Sat through the whole thing.

Couple of things (well more than a couple actually) stand out for me.

Dale Lewis - What a gun.
Wade Chapman, got some amazing possessions in the last quarter.
Without Lockett, St. Kilda were just a rabble.
Not having Dunks in the side hurt us.
    Jamie Lawson, what a tragedy!
Sydney had a reasonable array of spuds. Wheeler, Neil, Rose, Plunger, Daniels, Watters, Higgins, to name a few, but for every spud we had, St Kilda had 2 of them.
The core of the 96 team is there in all its glory
Watching the replay, I still can't believe how we lost that game and may be if bloody Brereton hadn't been suspended we might have had a bit more of a physical presence out on the ground.

41 points up with 9 minutes on the clock and somehow manage to lose. Amazing.

Pretty incredible that Lockett was able to take that last mark one-out virtually. Kickett was in the area but not actually involved in the contest. It just wouldn't happen now - he might still take the mark as he was a freak but there would've been 2 or 3 with him.

Who could forget when plugger kicked the ball at those elderly people behind the goals in that game and then followed with a few remarks to them, they must of been gettin in to him all day

By the end, it was competing with the Test match and the Tour de France for my attention but the last ten minutes was like watching us play Richmond all over again. If that was the reason we went and bought Lockett though it was a loss worth having.

haha, yeah. Then watch Plugger wipe Fitzroy for 16.0 in the Red and White. Much better story.

It was interesting to watch how quickly the ball moved around without the lock down packs and zoning of today.
That 3rd qtr is worth watching as some great swans skills on display out of the centre.
Did not watch the last qtr. (added to the 2006 gf as can't watch events).

It was interesting watching Sanford Wheeler play. He was the first African American to play AFL. Maybe the Sydney recruiters should spend a bit of time in the US, there's bound to a few more like him.

Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

They actually found him in Sydney's western suburbs - hmm that sounds like a good place to recruit potential Swans players. What? A GWS team to mine the rich vein of talent in Sydney's west?? When did this happen???
