They lost several players from the 2009 side, but were able to find some great replacements for 2010. The club runs itself well off the field, and has become an attractive destination for players - but it takes something special to turn good players into a great team, and Glenn Garner deserves a lot of credit for being for able to achieve that.
Mmmm, there's an air of Central District in the SANFL about this, I note that they're in their 11th straight GF this season and shooting for 9 flags in that time after being bridesmaids for many years.......not sure how that would go down around here though

Well 4 GFs in 5 years & only a few points away from 3 premierships in that time ... I guess it is a pretty good effort for a club that could only place third in SFA Div II (Div 4 equivalent) 21 years ago ... maybe ex-ECE Goodrem has been giving some tips about what CD does well after Radders shown them how to win back in 2000.

I looked at ECE (the club) at the grand final, now I see why they get bagged by some - what a great job they did on and off the field. ?To professional?

Even with their U18s losing to SU and 1st Grade winning ? I see why as an up-and-coming young player that has ambitions to play at that level should go to that club.

North Beach in the WAAFL A Grade just won their 7th successive flag and backed it up with the Club's first Reserve Grade Flag as well. 9 First Grade Premierships out of the last 11 as well which is very Centrals like.

And, no doubt East Coast Eagles with being extremely well run off field, will be aiming for continued domination for many years to come.

    Congratulations to all involved.

Trusty, nabbed a North Beach guernsey from eBay, should get the old #30 on it, small numbers mind you!

No long sleevers over here PK, so not the same really. Bit tough to get a game too with 5 senior sides and blokes missing out each week. I do get a chance to still play an annual game though.....

I really think we need to discuss how the students choked in the grand final this year.

16 straight going into the big one, perfect day for footy, chance to ice the game in the 3rd qtr and they boys went missing.

Whisper on the street is that a few of the boys were having a few at the Phelan and had organsied a big karoake premiership dinner for the saturday night - perhaps their minds were elsewhere.

And its fair to say amongst the players in the comp that Syd Uni are the club that everyone loves to hate - so to see them stumble at the final hurdle after the eagles had played 4 tough finals was great for everyone to see

Pleased to say that sitting behind the goals abusing those in Students guernseys (and serenading goal umpires in spare time) has renewed my hatred for Sydney Uni. Still, I hate all the uni teams, but Syd Uni we could never beat in Seniors so that will always stick.

No whisper needed, A Lee and B Man were amongst some drinking until 2am on Phelan medal night no ifs and no butts there, I left then and they were still drinking, there were others with them but these two were definately there. Definately no ECE players at Casino afterwards.

Karaoke the song selection might of changed after the loss.

No doubt a lot would of loved them to lose, ECE though have always a few which like to see them lose too

There are certainly a few bitter and twisted souls here bagging Uni and ECE

In my opinion the 2 best teams played out a great grand final

I rated the students the best and most consistent team all year. Played the game the right way

and why people "hate" them is beyond me. They aren't dirty nor arrogant. If you you have a high

level of education that doesn't make you a conceited pri*k. On the other hand ECE are also a well

run club. They are now the benchmark. They were the better team on the day. They copped

heaps after losing to Penno a few years ago in poor conditions but are now stronger for it.

As for the Students "over celebrating" after the Phelan - maybe people are just jealous

In this thread: people getting worked over amateur footballers. To quote Bill Hicks, if you want to feel better about yourself try fruit and some situps.
