I see Jack Jnr was amongst the goals (3) and the bests on Saturday in what was surely an upset result - Pennant Hills smashing ladder leaders Balmain.

And Alex Jalloh kicked a couple of goals as the World team won at the U16 Championships*. Can't find the results of the Rams game against Queensland to see how Perris went.

*Squad is a mixed side of truly international players, along with some first generation Australian immigrants, particularly from Africa.

    Queensland 14.7 91 defeated NSW/ACT 8.20 68

    Goals
Queensland: Bourke 8, Mills 2, Selman, Pendlebury, Gribble, Hay
NSW/ACT: Bond 2, Steele, Wall, Gibbons, Delves, Damme, Clothier

    Best
Queensland: Radford, Rokeby Southern, Bourke, Rutledge, Pendlebury
NSW/ACT: Keogh, Perris, Gibbons, Clothier, Clyne, Ryan

Perris second best, looks like they kick as well as the Swans.

Nicky D's first game for the Dockers this year. How weird must it have been for him to face some of his students from the Academy!

I am guessing there will be quite a few toppies this week. We had the 12 listed players last week and have regained Bird and maybe Currie into the playing group. So assuming no-one sits out the whole reserves game, that means either 10 or 11 toppies needed, depending on whether Gordon is available to play. Or do the reserves play with an extended toppie bench sometimes?

We are allowed 24 players because of the list restrictions. It used to be:

Maximum 13 listed players on the field, with 18 in the squad. This would be impossible with only a 4 man bench so it was decided as a compromise that the bench would be extended to 6 so that it would be 5 listed players and 1 toppie on it. The extended bench applied in AFL Canberra games involving the Swans, I don't think they do in the matches involving GWS, Lions or Suns as there is no listed player restrictions then.

However this year I've counted at times 14 listed players on the field so I'm not sure what the limitations are any more.

This week, the team on neafl.com.au shows 13 listed players and 11 toppies.

Good to see the academy players scoring goals and being named in the best at the carnival. NSW came 6th.
