Being the midway point of the season, I'm quite prepared to post the Top 50. That is, if anyone is interested enough to see them. The lack of discussion suggests either that's the case, or there are no arguments.

To SHH - Taggart is No.18 on 28 points, Jamie Vlatko is No.13 on 30 points and Campbell is No.16 on 29.
The question I'd ask is, given Campbell was found guilty of rough play at the tribunal on May 11 (no penalty specified), does that rule him ineligible?

Bee Em - How does this points system work?

1 - 6 is awarded from game reports, does win/loss affect the allocated points?

    Hi mate,
Yes, I use the 1-6 from the game reports as you thought, although only 10 players can score each game. The result of the match also affects the points I allocate as follows:

If the match is a draw - both teams receive 9.5, 7.5, 5.5, 3.5, 1.5 points (there have been no draws in senior football so far this year).
    If the margin is 1-9 points - the winners receive 10, 8, 6, 4, 2; the losers receive 9, 7, 5, 3, 1.
    If the margin is 10-29 points - the winners receive 10, 9, 6, 5, 2; the losers receive 8, 7, 4, 3, 1.
    If the margin is 30-59 points - the winners receive 10, 9, 8, 4, 3; the losers receive 7, 6, 5, 2, 1.
    If the margin is 60-99 points - the winners receive 10, 9, 8, 7, 6; the losers receive 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.
    If the margin is 100+ points - the winners receive 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5; the losers receive 4, 3, 2, 1.

    Cheers!!

Be interesting to compare the final ratings against the Phelan and other medals. Also against club B&F's

  8. #20
I have done that a couple of years ago and there is some correlation but not really. Different people doing the judging and awarding points. For example a B&F in one club was top 10 in the league in this system but polled about 5 votes from the umpies. They have a different way of looking at players to the rest of us. No real surprise there I suppose. (not having a go at our critically needed officiators)

I believe in the Sydney AFL, where the bests are picked by the coaches, you'll find it more accurate with the club best and fairests.
But with the AFL (see thread in general footy) and the Hume and Ovens and Murray leagues I've done previously, where the bests are picked by the media or timekeepers watching from the stands, it is quite a good indicator to the league medal. I got six out of seven Brownlow Medallists in the first seven years that I did this exercise.
