Whilst I'd love the Tigers to win, my mail is a few big outs for Sat. Loopy, Janis and Schmidt all struggling to overcome injuries and Davis hurt his knee late in the game against SU!!

PREMIER LEAGUE ? East Coast Eagles v Balmain Dockers ? Last week: Bal d SU by 3. Previous ? Round 16: Eagles 14.6 90 d Dockers 5.8 38. 2nd Semi: Eagles 11.12 78 d Dockers 7.18 60. The big dance, this is what it?s all about and what 11 teams started training for last October. And for the first time in AFL Sydney history, we have the Eastern Derby as East Coast takes on Balmain in the Grand Final. The Champions are the Eagles, who will be playing in their fourth consecutive grand final and are chasing their third consecutive premiership, having beaten UNSWES in 2009 and Sydney University in 2010. The Challengers are the Dockers who, by contrast, are in their first grand final since 1999 and are chasing their first premiership since their back to back titles as Tigers in 1997-98. Balmain do have plenty of experienced players who have been there and done that, including AFL Premiership players Nic Fosdike and Nick Davis, and ex-Swans Jason Saddington, Tim Schmidt and the man still looking for a fairytale finish to his career at 41 years old, Troy Luff. The Eagles have plenty of players backing up for the shot at the three-peat, including stars such as captain Jon Vlatko, vice captain and Phelan Medal runner-up Rowan Bilkey, hardman Ryan Fitton, and club favourite Ben Physick. They also have leading goalkicker Jamie Vlatko, two other key goalkickers in big men Steve O?Connor and Steve Doyle, and talented youngsters, Michael Johnston, Jack Dimery, Daniel Spiteri, Dean Costello and Leif Stuart, and are entitled to start favourites on that, and also their two wins overs the Dockers this year. However, Balmain?s missed opportunities were crucial two weeks ago down and Wollongong and they will rightly give themselves a big chance at a flag just two seasons after winning the wooden spoon. I?m going for the Eagles, but only just. ECE by 10 points.

DIVISION ONE ? Manly-Warringah v Southern Power ? Last week: SP d MU by 4. Previous ? Round 4: Manly 6.12 48 d Power 4.3 27. Round 11: Power 9.4 58 d Manly 5.4 34. 2nd Semi: Manly 12.10 82 d Power 6.5 41. The last time these two teams met in a grand final, in the old Division One in 2007, it was an extra time thriller. Now both teams are up a grade, and it is a huge effort from the Power to be in the grand final after winning the Division Two premiership last year. The Wolves have been the team to beat all year, losing just once (to Power), and I think they?ll be too strong. Wolves by 14.

UNDER 18 PREMIER ? East Coast Eagles v St Ignatius Riverview ? Last week: Riv d PH by 11. Previous: Round 8: Eagles 13.8 86 d Riverview 4.9 33. Round 15: Eagles 13.10 88 d Riverview 10.6 66. A great performance by the Saints to make the Grand Final from fifth spot with impressive wins over higher rated opponents Syd Uni, Norths and Penno. But thy?ll need to find another level again against an Eagles team looking for their first under 18s premiership after being close a few times. Eagles have just one loss on their copybook this year, plus a draw, and should be too strong. Eagles by 22 points.

DIVISION THREE ?UNSWES v Sydney University ? Last week: SU d UTS by 10. Previous ? Round 6: Dogs 12.13 85 d SU 9.9 63. Round 14: Dogs 19.17 131 d SU 6.2 38. The Dogs have been clearly the best team in this grade all season, and on paper should cruise back into Division Two. Grand Finals aren?t won on paper, but they should be too good anyway. Dogs by 36.
"It's up to the rest of the players in the room to make a new batch of premiership players next year," Adam Goodes, triple Bob Skilton Medallist, October 7, 2011.

Loved the speech by the Riverview 18's captain after beating East Coast. "We'll be having a beer tonight".
Headmaster on podium probably not real impressed
