    Tom Scully?

    Bolton + Bradshaw = Scully?

Given that Tom is reportedly miffed with Melbourne's administration and has ties with the Swans, what chance of us snagging him? Obviously GWS have it over us in the respective drafts, but if he is determined to move ...... could a trade be done for the out of contract Demon?
And the man who started it all, the Schneiderman . . . . .

What are his "ties with the Swans"?

Not going to happen, but we should definitely be having a go at getting him. I'd like to know which players we're actually talking to at the moment...I would assume there would be some.

Papa Scully does (or did) scouting work for the Swans.

GWS are reportedly offering 1m per year over 5 years. Besides them and the GC, no one else can afford that kind of cash without severely denting their salary cap.

As ugg said, we are in that oh so exclusive boat of nearly 90% of the competition that just has no chance.

He's a great player, I'd love to have him at Sydney obviously. Here's a hypothetical question- would you give up Hanners + Reid for him?
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

    n.o. No.

It was a rhetorical question wasn't it?

Scully is going to be a very good player. Possibly a great player. The team would improve if he were in the side. But he is essentially a small/medium midfielder who greatest strength is his ball winning ability. He does have a decent outside game, and he is not treacle slow but he is not:

    - an explosive, powerful midfielder in the Judd, Goodes, Martin mould; nor
    - a highly skilled, express paced outside runner; nor
    - a key position forward capable of kicking bags of goals

The team would improve more by finding one or more of the above types than it would by adding a Scully. As such, I wouldn't have thought he should be top priority for using the Swans' limited salary cap space or trading currency.
