    Depends on the circumstances.
Family of 4 or 5 in a car, bit of petrol, maintenance, insurance and registration (not to mention some more CO2 released) and $26 for parking ....

    - OR -

Family of 4 or 5 in a car, bit of petrol, maintenance, insurance and registration (not to mention some more CO2 released) and free parking at the station, then (at least for where I used to travel from), $12 per person train ticket - $48 - $60 ...

I used to park at Etihad, thanks ... and if it was full, there was a little parking lot at the end of a street (name of which I have forgotten) that charged me $10.

I park here (modern building multilevel), 5 minute walk. $6 till 11pm or midnight (can't quite remember). When you exit; go left down Gresham street then left and your away!

There are plenty of parking places around Docklands. The place is a wasteland filled with emptiness.
So any empty space is a carpark.

The multi story (orange place) is $5 for 24 hours. Most others vary from $6-$8. There are some that are more.
Most of Docklands is only a 10-15 mins walk to the Stadium.

The one Frog is thinking of is in the Wiki page I linked to.

There is also crown. They charge about $6 for 6 hours, it is a fair hike though. And can get crowded early evening. Plenty of parking just crowded to get in, so leave plenty of time, Just in case.

    That's the one. Crombie lane.
Only negative with that one is it closes quickly after the game finishes(1/2 hr or an hr). Plenty of people park there though.
You also have to walk though the Sat night Mens club district, can be intimidating for people with children, as I found out one night.

Yeah it's through a part of the strip clubs area, but before 11pm there aren't many people around. Haven't got kids yet, but people walk in groups and there's families all together. And for 6 bucks that close, it's a bargain.

You Melbournites don't know how good you've got it. $25 to park underneath the ground and get a lift to your seat is gold.

We pay $20 to park 300m from the gate. It's either a dustbowl in the dry, a bog in the wet and takes forever to get out of. (It's actually way better to get out of than it once was, but let's not spoil a good rant).....
Driver of the Dan Hannebery bandwagon....all aboard. 4th April 09
