    Swans' decade of success

A piece on the AFL site salutes Swans' strategy for success.

Sydney has reached the finals eight times with the fewest top ten draft picks. Collingwood has also made the finals eight times but with five draft picks (and a much-discussed low finish in 2005).

Over the past decade, no side has had such a constant presence in the top eight, with so few high draft picks, as the Swans....

While Barry Hall is perhaps the most notable acquisition during that time, the likes of Ted Richards and Rhyce Shaw were cut loose by other sides and became terrific, first-choice footballers in Sydney.

Shane Mumford, Josh Kennedy and Marty Mattner are others that were enticed to Sydney from rival clubs and blossomed.

Top picks no matter for spring Swans - AFL.com.au

Also, Goodes and Bolton set a new club record, playing their 19th finals tomorrow.

Yet another reason why the Sydney Swans is simply the most awesome club in the league.

Hell, even David King wants to barrack for us!
To all those people who waited 72 years to see a South Melbourne/Sydney Swans premiership HERE IT IS!!

I think that Craig Bolton, not Baz was the most notable acquisition from another club. I hope several of the current lot go on to eclipse Baz too - Josh will probably be the first.
