Congratulations Penrith, Moorebank, Southern Power & Campbelltown

The first four premierships have been decided, with four seperate clubs taking silverware in the first Grand Final day of the season.

Penrith in Div 2 showed themselves worthy winners. The Rams quickly established themselves the benchmark in Div 2 this season; and will go up to Div 1, giving a higher footballing option for an aspirational footballer in the outer western suburbs.
It was an upset for Moorebank in Div 4, but they were the best team when it mattered. It was only a few years ago that the Magpies struggled to field one team, now they have three senior teams and an under 18s - they're doing a lot right in Moorebank.
It was the first time we've had a Div 5, but the new comp saw Southern Power emerge as a powerhouse, completing an undefeated season.
And for Campbelltown in the Under 18s Challenge comp, some very welcome silverware. It's been a big turnaround for Campbelltown's juniors, going from a winless season with plenty of forfeits last year to an undefeated 2011. With this crop of juniors, the future at Campbelltown looks the brightest it's looked for a long time.

Congratulations to the four premiership clubs. Enjoy your premiership parties - you deserve to celebrate a great year.

Congratulations to all four Premiers today. All thoroughly deserved winners and all were clearly the better teams in their matches. Kudos especially to Moorebank in Div 4 and Penrith in Div 2, who both handed up handy leads to their opponents and responded the way quality teams do to win their Grand Finals.
Congratulations also to John Wakeman, Ben Wharton, Anthony Simpson and Daniel Schroot on being named the best on ground in their respective matches. All outstanding performances.

Norris Id disagree that it was an upset in Div 4 given we were the only team to knock on Mac Uni all year but upset or not were pretty happy out in the south west.

To the boys at the Rams congratulations and well deserved. Had plenty of conversations with SHH, Des and Kev and Sharpie over the past few years and really pleased to see them get some senior success after all their hard work.

A "Wise One" once pointed out the future was bleak out west (in particular south west) but in the past two years we have seen 5 premierships - two to Penrith two to ourselves and one to Evo and the 18s at Cambelltown - None may be a PD flags obviously but they are something to build upon at each of our clubs.

Also congratulations to Offal and Cav(probably the first person Harvey Wallbanger has ever reported) on Div 5.

Thanks Colesy, congratulations to your boys who were certainly the better team on the day. Given the shared experiences of both our clubs, it makes it a little easier to swallow.

I had a real feeling of deja vu when Balmain pulled level early in the last quarter after we'd led by 32 points at one stage, given that we gave up a handy lead last year, however to the boys eternal credit they kicked again when it was up for grabs.

The final score was pretty deceptive, and well done to the Dockers for getting there by winning three finals, which just goes to show how tough it is to get the job done in the big one when coming from there.

We'll need to improve again to compete with the top sides in Div 1, and so the hard work starts again!

A low scoring weekend of AFL. A crackerjack day of footy today though with plenty of lead changes.

Good luck to Luffy and co. next week and I won't show any bias whatsoever in saying I am looking forward to Power getting a second premiership over Manly in 2011.

So far there's been a good spread of premierships going to Campbelltown, Penrith, Moorebank and Sutherland. Three out of the the other four premierships should be heading to the suburbs too which is interesting considering a lot of premierships over the past few years have gone to inner city clubs.

Thanks for the well-wishes Colesy. Funny comment about Harvey and Cav! As for the Manly player involved in that incident, you will find that he probably had more headbutts than possesions for the game. I reckon his stats would read: 0 marks, 1 disposal, 1 kick, 15 headbutts.
