I'm not against him having it if the club have deemed him worthy.....but I would have thought it might have been rested a bit longer. Let's hope he embraces it and does it proud.

And I just thought Bangalore's banging on about him would be enough to give him a big head, let alone giving him Goodesy's number on top

Hopefully his footy story ends better then Taylor's did however!

How is he more worthy than about 20 others at least ? Even his brother for gods sake

Yes I tend to agree I think that the number 37 holds a special significance for Swans supporters and should be assigned accordingly.
You would think that wearing it also has a little psychological pressure attached as well.
Having said that if he has half the career that Adam had I think we as supporters would be quite happy.

I don’t see why the no.37 can’t be put on hold until a player emerges to warrant it- it shouldn’t be given to a new player. It needs to be earned; ET being an indigenous player may have been the reason he received it, but unfortunately it was a disaster. It is simply risky to give it to a new recruit and I don’t understand their thinking, unless they were smoking what I did many years ago.

Like I posted in another thread with others, a risky and silly decision!
Nothing against Corey- hope he turns out to be a champ, but come on- Number 37? Seriously?

I have found an interesting pattern with the player numbers.

2, 15: players promoted to lower numbers.
    19: player traded in.
    29: first player drafted.
    34: second player drafted.
    37: third player drafted.
    41: fourth player drafted.

    Last year's recruits:
    6: first player drafted. (McDonald)
    16: second player drafted. (Campbell)
    21: third player drafted. (Gulden)
    31: player traded in. (Hickey)
    33: rookie. (Sheather)
36: player promoted to lower number (Amartey)
    40: rookie. (Carruthers)

So players drafted appear to be assigned vacant numbers in the same order they are drafted.
