Delistings thread (merged) - 4 senior players delisted

    Ok

After the "horse" trading finished yesterday, how many do we have to delist ?

From my understanding (correct me if I am wrong ) we must have 3 picks in the draft

Tom Mitchell is one pick and I am led to believe that promoting a rookie (ie Nipper Gordon) also counts as a pick

    Any ideas

    Thats correct.

We have lost 4 officially- C. Bolton, Bradshaw, Kennelley, Johnston. You can add Sumner to that list unofficially to make 5.

Add - Mitchell, Morton, Armstrong, Walsh plus 2 others through the draft. So that makes 6

Depends if the Swans have their eyes on delisted or out of contract players going into the draft as to how many they cut.

Glad someone asked, because I had no idea. All I thought was there are a few very nervous listed players at the moment. Could be interesting.

Bevo, Moore, Currie are probably the most nervous.

How long since you've looked at our list at this time of year and thought no one deserves to be cut from that lot. Shows we have built nice depth and lots of promising young players over the past 2-3 years.

I'd reckon we'll use both our picks so at least one will have to go. There is always the chance of redrafting a delisted player if there is no one we want by the time pick 63 comes around or mature age rookie listing them.

I hope we draft a couple of young players. You always need to have youth coming through. How would it be if we picked up another of the calibre of AJ.

Well as some would know I have been getting into the ear of George Stone asking when they were going to pick up Kayne Murphy. So I am hoping he does get a gig, or a rookie or something.

We also have some lively types in Dylan McNeil, and Brain.....etc. Locals and toppies. I wonder if they will go afar, or dig deeper into our local talent. We do have some.

We only had one veteran listed outside the senior list last season IIRC, which means that we can put another one outside to create some more room. With that in mind, we don't need to delist anybody else. However, if we want to upgrade Gordon, then we will. Personally, I'd like to see us upgrade him as that would allow us to list McNeil as a third year rookie (we couldn't have both him and Gordon), meaning at least one of Bevo and Currie will get the chop.
Officially on the Reid and Sumner bandwagon!

Youd think Currie given Seaby survived the trading period. I'd be disappointed if the chopped McNeil.

Dyl was outstanding in the reserves in the latter half of the year. He's a clearance specialist and one we need to keep. My views on Nipper are well known so it sounds like Bevan will be moved on. I'd give Currie one last chance as agile big men are rare in AFL footy.

Shows how good the list is. Currie needs game time but I can't see a spot for him now we have some big bodies in Spranger and Walsh. Another year of reserves footy? Can't see how that's going to help. Maybe both Bevan and Currie will go.

It would be good if we could loan Currie to a VFL club for the season - like what happens in European football.

Good idea. They should do that before they do free agency.

When does the axe fall on our playing list?
