Round 16 v Gold Coast, Carrara
Sydney 15.16 106 Gold Coast 4.12 36
Brownlow Medal 3:Ryan OKeefe (SY) 2:Jarrad McVeigh (SY) 1:Luke Parker (SY)
The swans unveiled Matthew Spangher for his first swans games, and Luke Parker received his first ever Brownlow Vote. The only serious question about this game was if G Ablett Jnr would be contained as he normally has ripped us apart in previous games with Geelong. Turned out to be a fizzer as McGlynn shadowed him initially and then he injured his knee and was subbed off early in the 2nd. With a new look forward line with Spangher, Parker and LRT up forward, they combined with Reid to open up and fairly handy lead in the 1st qtr and then extend it at every change, to run out comfortable winners.
Swans by 70. 3 goals each to McVeigh and Reid. O'Keefe(31), McVeigh(27) and Parker(26) led the way with disposals.

Round 17 v Fremantle, SCG
Sydney 13.9 87 Fremantle 15.8 98
Brownlow Medal 3:Nathan Fyfe (FR) 2:Jarrad McVeigh (SY) 1:Lewis Roberts-Thomson (SY)
After a tight first qtr, the Dockers opened up the game with 3 goals in a row, before the swans steadied before the main break. 2 goals to LRT early in the 3rd and the difference was 2 points, but then the flood gates, and heavens, opened with 6 unanswered dockers goals. What seemed an unbeatable lead, was easily hauled in, as a different swans team came out at the last change. 5 unanswered goals, and they trailed by 6 points late in the game. 80 seconds left and a free to Lower gifted them a goal, after a free and 50m penalty against Kennelly. Now time was against the Swans.
Dockers by 11 points. 3 goals to LRT, and 24 touches to Kennedy, McVeigh(including 12 tackles and a brilliant snap) and Hannebery.
And the Umpires had a terrific game.
8-7-1.
