Probably the genius who dreamt up the idiocy of having the players aim at a Coke can tied to the goalposts.

He'd get a kick from me any day!
By that reasoning we shouldn't be trying to hit targets at training either.

No one at the Swans is a really good kick. If Shaw came first and Pikey second that says it all! We don't have a good kick except Stewart Dew and he is a coach. The last good kick we had was cleared to the Crows. What a delight his kicking was against the Pies regularly clearing the Collingwood press.

Kicking in a kicking drill, and kicking in an actual game are two very different things. Some people are beautiful kicks on the training track but struggle to hit a target in a game. I wouldnt read too much into that.

BTW, despite the fact it doesnt look pretty, Alex Johnson ( IMO) is a good kick. Does exactly what needs to be done with the ball, despite not looking good whilst doing it. Some people get mesmerised by a fluent, good looking kicking action and assume that player is a good kick of the ball. Its not always the case, and Vice Versa with ugly kickers. I hope this makes sense..
