Well LRT shone for the 2005 GF and then went walkabout for many years.

I don't think he was that different earlier this season but something has changed since. Whether its a mental thing or being played more as a defensive forward. He certainly has had many years in defence to learn how to best play as a forward.

Good job Barry. Makes an interesting picture. I still think 2012 is a better side and unfortunately for us in a significantly better comp.
Nothing like a good light bulb moment.

I think its just the continuity in his game. Has been persistently injured just after he settles in the team.

Was a very good player in 06 but had his stress factures get in the way.

That 2005 forward line would stretch the 2012 defence mightily, I suspect.

The 2012 team is better but with more nemesis sides. We must take the opposition into account because it is only by defeating the opposition that we can win finals.

    2005 - couldn't beat Adelaide. Results: 41-point loss (H), 7-point loss (A).
    2012 - couldn't beat Adelaide or Collingwood. Results: 5-point loss (H), 8-point loss (H).

The chances are high that we would have to defeat one or both of these sides on the way to the premiership.

A common feature with these losses has been inaccuracy.
    R4 2005 Adelaide 18.12 (120) d Sydney 11.13 (79)
    - 6 fewer scoring shots, 1 more behind, Adelaide 60.0% accuracy, Sydney 45.8% accuracy.

    R18 2005 - Adelaide 8.6 (54) d Sydney 6.11 (47)
    - 3 more scoring shots, 5 more behinds, Adelaide 57.1% accuracy, Sydney 35.3% accuracy.

    R6 2012 - Adelaide 15.9 (99) d Sydney 14.10 (94)
    - equal scoring shots, 1 more behind, Adelaide 62.5% accuracy, Sydney 58.3% accuracy.

    R20 2012 - Collingwood 12.6 (78) d Sydney 9.16 (70)
    - 7 more scoring shots, 10 more behinds, Collingwood 66.7% accuracy, Sydney 36.0% accuracy.

    Totals
Bogan teams 53.33 gives 61.6% accuracy
Sydney Swans 40.50 gives 44.4% accuracy

If we can improve this inaccuracy, we are a chance to defeat both teams when next we meet them.

Ironically, it was only our accuracy against Collingwood in 2005 that gave us our most recent win against them.
    R13 2005 Sydney 11.11 (77) d Collingwood 10.16 (76) - won with 4 fewer scoring shots.

Yeah I think so too. Also think the 2005 defence would have our current forwards covered, but the current midfield make up for that with better goalkicking ability. Would be close, but I suspect the 2012 midfield would eventually get on top and create enough chances to win.

Ablett kicking across goal down the throat of Jack would help too.

Leo kicking it out to Mumford with 30 seconds to play would help as well.

We don't have a Nick Davis to get us into a prelim. But the good news is that in 2012 we probably won't need him to get us out of jail.
