Too late for this year but I see Lamb was best to go with his recent excellent efforts.

If he can stay injury free maybe he will be a player to step up next year, oh and Tom Mitchell too .... please :-)

Yep they're the two for next year - Jed has massive wraps from within the club and Tom is a class act.....

I only twigged after the game but Everitt did not play the 4th quarter, you would have to assume it's an injury.

    Great game Swannies

Just watched replay of game. Great game swannies and great win. Thought Lamb and White were fantastic and Plug was the pick of the toppies. Bring on the grand final.
Anyone have any thoughts of which players and toppies should play the Grand Final??

Finally managed to find the time to watch a full replay of the game, which allowed me to review the performance of the players and get some insight into Queanbeyan who will be our grand final opponents on Sunday.

The final margin of 55 points might indicate a thrashing but there were stages during the game where the Tigers were in with a real shot. They were 15 points up heading into time on in the 2nd quarter before a late flurry of goals, sparked by Andrejs Everitt allowed us to go to the main break with a 6 point lead, and again at the beginning of the last quarter where they pegged back the 32 point deficit to just 20 with the first 2 goals of the quarter before a steadier from Jarred Moore and 4 in the quarter by Trent Dennis-Lane caused the margin to balloon out again.

The game plan for the Tigers centered upon their tackling, chasing and physicality which caused the Swans problems early on, and once they received the ball it was to move it on quickly to their tall forwards in James Kavanagh, Ryan Quade, Ben Klemke and the resting ruckman who had the definite size advantage over our defenders. Once the Swans adjusted to the style of the game, it was firstly their cleanness and efficiency especially in the forward line that saw them pull ahead and their superior fitness in running out the game resulted in the big victory.

    Listed players:
    • 8. Dennis-Lane - Well contained by his defender for most of the day, any time he gathered possession he was immediately surrounded by Tigers and couldn't get the space to work his magic. The space opened up in the last quarter for him, probably due to the Tigers' need to chase down the margin, and took some smart marks and finished with his usual accuracy. 5 goals 1 goal assists
    • 10. Morton - Overall he had a quiet game but when he had chances he put them away, including a sensational individual effort from a boundary throw in where he bounced off 3 Tigers defenders, his teammate in Everitt, and snapped a shot that somehow went through a sea of arms from both sets of players. The goal umpire originally called it touched but was overruled by the field umpire. 3 goals 1 goal assist
    • 11. Lamb - Dynamic performance in the midfield where he was strong in the clearance department and also brilliant in the Swans' possession chain from defence to attack. Rested forward and kicked 2 goals including a strong contested grab deep in the forward line. Was hit hard in the 4th quarter when a Tiger came off the centre square and collected Jed legally from the side but Lamb was unaware of the incoming player and didn't brace for the contact. Stayed down for a while and was seen to by the trainers but returned to play out the game. 2 goals 1 behind 2 goal assists
    • 13. Everitt - A difficult matchup for the Queanbeyan midfield due to size. When he got hands to the loose ball, he tried to be evasive with mixed results but when allowed time to dispose of it his kicking was generally good but some of his play lacked the intensity he showed the previous week. Went off some time during the 3rd quarter and didn't return. 2 behinds 2 goal assists
    • 18. White - Sterling performance from Jesse in the ruck who was opposed to 2 ruckmen who rotated through the position all day. Got first hands to the ruck contests on many occasions and was critical in the Swans setup at both offensive and defensive kick-ins.
    • 27. Spangher - Still struggling to regain the form he displayed midway through the year and was closely checked by Roy Jaques. Spang also didn't help his cause by missing a easy set shot from 20m out. However he kept working all day as the only tall marking forward target, and contributed to the win with some smart crumbing as well as a brilliant torpedo from the defensive half to TDL after winning a contested mark from one of our kick ins. 1 goal 1 behind 3 goal assists
    • 28. McNeil - Another impressive game from McNeil who has finished off the year in good form. He worked well with the rest of the inside midfield brigade benefiting from White's taps, finding a lot of the ball and using it well. 2 goals 1 goal assist
    • 33. Moore - The captain led from the front with his grunt work in the middle, his quick hands allowing the Swans plenty of clean takeaways. He kicked the steadier in the last when the Tigers were threatening, a trademark shimmy to steady himself to shoot and convert from 45m out. 2 goals
    • 35. Heath - Played on Quade and not Kavanagh as I had anticipated, the size of Quade troubled him at times and if there was a clean ball or quick delivery from a Queanbeyan player to Quade, there was little Heath could do to stop him marking it. Quade finished with 3 goals.
    • 42. Lynch - Massive job and great result in limiting their leading goalkicker Kavanagh to just one goal. Lynch's athleticism allowed to stick closely to Kavanagh on the leads and wasn't troubled in the wrestling contests either
    • 44. Cunningham - Anotherrun through the midfield and his output increased once Everitt went off.Lovely kick from a set shot. 1 goal 2 goal assists
    • 45. Gordon - Occupied the Meredith sweeping role in his absence, sitting in the forward 50 with a brief to help out Lynch and Heath whenever possible but also provide the run and rebound from our defensive 50. Gave away his usual free kicks for over-exuberance in the tackle and executed one that looked suspiciously like a sling tackle but the umpire didn't even give a free. 1 goal 1 behind 1 goal assist

Top ups in general were all very solid performers who contributed their part to the win. They are a very disciplined bunch of youngsters who have obviously been told to look for the listed players whenever possible but also have the confidence and skills to take the game on if the circumstances fell their way. For example, with the close attention being paid to TDL and Spangher in the first quarter, it was due to some of the good work from topups like Plug, Sertbas, Dunn and Bosschieter that opened up the Swans' scoring opportunities.
    • 47. Jackson Potter - Competent job as a mid-sized defender on the pacy Jarrod Atkinson who ended up kicking 2 goals but failed to exert the same influence as he has had on his new club the whole year.
    • 50. Jack McKinlay - Red-haired top up utility who was used at both ends of the ground. 1 goal
    • 51. Bradley Plug - Played the majority of the first half in a sacrificial role dragging the Queanbeyan playing coach Kade Klemke back to the goalsquare in an attempt to curb his influence in the back half. When allowed to play he plays with courage and skill, and has an eye for goal. 2 goals 1 behind 1 goal assist
    • 52. Erol Sertbas - Enthusiastic performance across half forward and pushing up towards the centre of the ground. Kicked the first Swans goal of the game through some hard running into space. Is quite pacy, smart handballer (executed a brilliant no look handball over his shoulder under pressure on a wing), willing to chase and reads the game reasonably well. The major query is over his kicking which is neat but lacks penetration. 1 goal
    • 53. Thomas Thurgarland - Playing in defence, he struggled on the bigger Ben Klemke who was smart enough to use his height and weight advantage to easily hold off Thurgarland on a few instances and claim important marks in attack. Also suffered a heavy hit during the game, not sure how he ended up.
    • 54. Nathan Bosschieter - Showed a few tricks in the forward half, the left footer looked composed on the ball. 1 behind 1 goal assist
    • 55. Stephen Wray - One of the older toppies I'm led to believe, he played in defence and has good kicking skills.
    • 56. James Dunn - Not as prominent as in previous games, ran mostly through the midfield.
    • 57. Thomas Green - Saw more of him in the 2nd half but mostly on and off the bench.
    • 58. Daniel Schacher - The one 'debutant' for the toppies, played in defence.
    • 59. Daniel Cullen - Used in attack as a taller option, the tall, lanky lad with the thigh pads had limited impact on the game. Smart kick to Plug for the last goal of the game. 1 goal assist
