    Rookie Draft

Sydney was excluded from today's Pre-season Draft because the senior list is full, but the Swans added five names to the 2004 Rookie list (in addition to Paul Bevan, who was carried over from 2003).

Scott McGlone was reinstated after being dropped from last year's rookie list, and Daniel Hunt was taken for the rookies after being delisted from the Swans' senior squad.

    The new faces are -

    AARON ROGERS 05/01/1984 192cm 86kg

A former St George/NSW-ACT U18 player who was previously drafted by Melbourne in 2001 (2nd round pick) but delisted at the end of 2003. A key forward player who had a run for the Demons in the 2003 Wizard Cup, but spent the season proper with Sandringham in the VFL.

    LUKE TAYLOR 21/01/85 191cm 81kg

Originally from Culcairn/Lavington and represented NSW in the U18 Championships. Luke played most of 2003 in the forward line for the Murray Bushrangers (including 8 marks and 3 goals against the Rams), but was moved into defence late in the season, and ended up rating as the Bushrangers' best defender (at CHB) in their TAC Grand Final loss to the Cannons.

Luke stood out as the best of the potential rookies invited to train with the Swans (the others being Shaun Daly and Luke Schilg).

Recruiting manager Ricky Barham said, "Taylor is an athletic forward and can take a good grab."

    NICK POTTER 12/06/85 181cm 80kg

Midfielder from Pennant Hills who represented NSW in the U18 Championships and filled-in for the Swans Reserves in the Canberra League.

Nick was the outstanding youngster playing local football in Sydney in 2003, and was awarded the 2003 National Bank Rising Star Award for Sydney Football, as well as being Pennant Hill's "Footballer of the Year".
